Integration of VoIP phone services with Intelligent Cloud Voice Recognition for emergency services overcomes limitations of conventional residential telephone technology to inexpensively provide more useful and advanced residential telephone services. For example, in an embodiment, a communication method may comprise establishing a communications session between either a user device and a telephone system or between a user device and voice recognition system, if the communications session is between a user device and a telephone system, extending the communications session to include a voice recognition system, if the communications session is between a user device and a voice recognition system, extending the communications session to include a telephone system, providing voice or speech information to the voice recognition system from the user device, and performing at least one function with the voice recognition system based on the provided voice or speech information.

A method comprising obtaining a phone number of a mobile device used by a user making an emergency call. The emergency call is conducted with a recipient through a first connection. The method also comprises transmitting a uniform resource locator (URL) to the mobile device through an electronic message. The electronic message is transmitted through a second connection using the phone number. The second connection is different from the first connection. The electronic message allows the user to click on the URL to access a web browser on the mobile device, instead of a full application on the mobile device, to establish a WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) session to transmit a real-time video stream from the mobile device. The URL is associated with the phone number of the mobile device. The method additionally comprises receiving the real-time video stream from the mobile device through the WebRTC session. The method further comprises sending the real-time video stream to the recipient for display on a screen of the recipient. A system and method for streaming real-time data from a user device to a dispatch unit terminal, where the method includes: identifying a connection between a user device and a call center; sending a link to the user device, wherein the link includes instructions to initiate streaming of real-time data from the user device, and further includes a unique identifier associated with the user device; and sending the real-time data to a dispatch unit terminal, where the unique identifier is used to match the real-time data with the dispatch terminal used in the first connection.

A light socket surveillance system can be used to enable a first party to communicate with a second party. The light socket surveillance system can be used to detect an audible notification from the first party. In response to detecting the audible notification from the first party, the light socket surveillance system can initiate a communication session with a remote computing device of the second party.

A method for processing instant application messages is provided. The method is performed by a device and includes: receiving, by a modem of the device, an instant application message transmitted from an application server to an application processor of the device; determining, by the modem, whether the application processor is in a sleeping mode and the instant application message is an emergency message; and transmitting, by the modem, the instant application message to a co-processor of the device to cache the instant application message when the application processor is in the sleeping mode and the instant application message is not an emergency message.

A community safety system (CSS) including a notification management entity (NME) comprising servers, the NME communicatively coupled to multiple user devices and one or more administrator devices (collectively, registered user devices). The CSS includes a plurality of registered users, wherein each registered user is associated with an organization, and a user category of a set of user categories. The NME may maintain a list of the registered users and associated information. The registered users may have user devices including a CSS application operating thereon. In some embodiments the CSS enables inter-organizational communication, allowing for members of a first organization to provide alerts that the NME can pass to a second organization when the registered user is physically located within a security zone associated with a second organization but not a member of the second organization.
