Mobile communications with quality of service

A mobile communications system includes switching between communication paths based on the quality of service. A VoIP service is coupled to a mobile network and a wireless local-area network (WLAN) via a wide-area IP network. A plurality of mobile communications devices are associated with VoIP telephone numbers. A public switched telephone network (PSTN) is coupled to the plurality of mobile communications devices and coupled to the VoIP service. A quality of service server is coupled to the plurality of mobile communications devices via the wide-area IP network for determining the quality of data channels to a mobile communications device via the mobile network and to the mobile communications device via the WLAN. A voice call is carried over one of the mobile network, the WLAN, and the PSTN depending on the quality of the data channels.

COMMUNICATION USING VIRTUAL NUMBERS

Examples disclosed herein involve receiving a request from a calling device to establish a communication session between a mobile device and the calling device, the mobile device assigned a virtual telephone number, retrieving location information corresponding to a location of the mobile device from a location register, and sending a redirect to a session border controller (SBC) to establish the communication session between the calling device and the mobile device based on the location information.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUBSCRIBER TIER PLAN ADJUSTMENT IN A COMPUTER NETWORK

A method for subscriber tier plan adjustment including: monitoring traffic flow for one or more subscriber of a plurality of subscribers on an operator’s network; determining a bandwidth requirement for each of the one or more subscribers; determining a recommended tier plan for each subscriber based on the subscribers’ bandwidth requirement; and providing the recommended tier plan for each of the subscribers to a network operator. A system for subscriber tier plan adjustment including: a learning module configured to monitor traffic flow for one or more subscribers of a plurality of subscribers on a network and determine a bandwidth requirement of each of the one or more subscribers; an analysis module configured to determine a recommended tier plan for each of the subscribers based on each subscriber’s bandwidth requirement; and a notification module configured to provide the recommended tier plan for each subscriber.

Device group partitions and settlement platform

Device group partitions and a settlement platform are provided. In some embodiments, device group partitions (e.g., partitions of devices based on associated device groups) are provided. In some embodiments, a settlement platform service is provided. In some embodiments, a settlement platform service is provided for partitioned devices. In some embodiments, collecting device generated service usage information for one or more devices in wireless communication on a wireless network; and aggregating the device generated service usage information for a settlement platform for the one or more devices in wireless communication on the wireless network is provided. In some embodiments, a settlement platform implements a service billing allocation and/or a service/transactional revenue share among one or more partners. In some embodiments, service usage information includes micro-CDRs, which are used for CDR mediation or reconciliation that provides for service usage accounting on any device activity that is desired. In some embodiments, each device activity that is desired to be associated with a billing event is assigned a micro-CDR transaction code, and a service processor of the device is programmed to account for that activity associated with that transaction code. In some embodiments, a service processor executing on a wireless communications device periodically reports (e.g., during each heartbeat or based on any other periodic, push, and/or pull communication technique(s)) micro-CDR usage measures to, for example, a service controller or some other network element for CDR mediation or reconciliation.

Device-Assisted Services for Protecting Network Capacity

Device Assisted Services (DAS) for protecting network capacity is provided. In some embodiments, DAS for protecting network capacity includes monitoring a network service usage activity of the communications device in network communication; classifying the network service usage activity for differential network access control for protecting network capacity; and associating the network service usage activity with a network service usage control policy based on a classification of the network service usage activity to facilitate differential network access control for protecting network capacity.

TEMPORARY NETWORK LINK PERFORMANCE ELEVATION

Devices, systems, and methods for temporary link performance elevation are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a link performance elevation (LPE) request is received. The LPE request is a request to temporarily boost performance of a network link between an endpoint and a service provider for a finite duration. Based on the LPE request, a temporary performance boost is activated for the network link at the start of the finite duration, and the temporary performance boost is deactivated for the network link at the end of the finite duration.

Vehicle and method of platooning control therefor

A vehicle and method of platooning control therefor are provided to achieve optimum communication charge efficiency while a plurality of vehicles perform platooning. A data communication method of a platooning vehicle includes starting platooning by a plurality of vehicles and sharing data charge rate information through a first protocol for vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V) by the plurality of vehicles. A first master vehicle and at least one slave vehicle are determined based on the shared data charge rate information. An access point (AP) is then activated according to a second protocol for short distance communication by the first master vehicle and an AP of the master vehicle is accessed and data communication is performed by the at least one slave vehicle.

System and method for network initiated embedded subscriber identity module profile changes

An information handling system may include a processor; a memory; a network interface device to communicatively couple the information handling system to a first wireless communication networks of a plurality of wireless communication networks; an embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) to provide data descriptive of wireless communication network-specific information to authenticate the information handling system; and an eSIM profile switching module to: monitor for signal strengths of each of a plurality of wireless communication networks. Upon discovering that the first wireless communication network has insufficient quality of service to sustain data transmission, send a request to a wireless communication network switching utility at a core communication network requesting roaming during a switch between the eSIM profile for a default wireless communication network to the second wireless communication network; and switch communication to the second wireless communication network while avoiding wireless service interruption with roaming if available.
