Adjustable and dynamic thresholds in wireless networks

Techniques and architectures enable a wireless communications network to allow for dynamic changes or on-the-fly selections of Fair Usage thresholds or other thresholds and to allow for the Fair Usage thresholds to be associated with individual subscribers of the wireless communications network. Subscriber groups of relatively small granularity or individual subscribers may be assigned a profile that sets forth actions to be applied to subscribers in response to the subscribers reaching particular thresholds of data usage.

Dynamic bandwidth service limits

A network services provider delivers bandwidth services to users in relation to a dynamic limit based on an average user consumption, rather than a fixed amount per subscriber. An average user consumption is employed to compute a consumption limit from relative portions of a user community substantially exceed the average, typically defined as “heavy users.” Usage levels below the consumption limit have an increased availability up to the consumption limit. The consumption limit may vary from a total capacity of the service infrastructure, which changes, generally in an increasing manner, as additional resources are added to the network. The consumption limits may be defined over different service intervals, such as daily, weekly or monthly, and for different groups of users depending on network layout.

A system and method for programmatically managing device connectivity to a network that includes provisioning connectivity devices with an account of a communication platform, where for a set of the connectivity devices, provisioning includes uniquely associating network operating identifiers of each of the connectivity devices with a corresponding programmatic device resource in the communication platform, setting communication metering properties in a programmatic connectivity plan resource in the communication platform and associating the connectivity plan resource to at least a subset of the device resources of the connectivity devices, and activating network communication status of the connectivity devices; servicing communications from the connectivity devices; and programmatically managing the communications from the connectivity devices through at least the device resources and the connectivity plan resources.

Personalized devices for out-bound and in-bound inmate calling and communication

Systems and techniques are disclosed for establishing inbound calls and outbound calls involving inmates and outside parties. One exemplary technique receives input identifying authorized sources who are authorized to initiate and conduct calls with an inmate and stores a list of the authorized sources. The list, for example, can include telephone numbers, VOIP caller identifiers, and/or call privileges associated with the sources. The technique receives an inbound call directed to the inmate and determines whether the source of the inbound call is authorized or not, for example, by comparing information about the source with information in the list of authorized sources and/or based on the call privileges. If the source is authorized, the call is permitted. If not the technique routes the call to a payment interface for the caller to provide payment information.

SYSTEM FOR GRANT OF USER ACCESS AND DATA USAGE IN A PROCESS DATA NETWORK

Embodiments enable a system operatively connected with a block chain distributed network to use a block chain distributed network for granting user access and/or data usage in a process data network. Embodiments receive a transaction record associated with a payment transaction initiated by a user, wherein the transaction record comprises transaction data indicating a payor account owned by a payor distinct from the user, a payee and an amount; access a distributed ledger stored in the memory device, wherein the distributed ledger is updated based on communications from a block chain distributed network; and determine, using the accessed distributed ledger, whether the user is authorized to conduct the payment transaction. In some cases, the system determines, using the accessed distributed ledger, that one or more payor restrictions have been placed on user use of the payor account; and applies the payor restrictions to processing of the payment transaction.

System and method for provisioning temporary telephone numbers

Systems, methods, and computer program products for provisioning a temporary disposable number are described. A user can be provided with a pool of available temporary disposable numbers that have a limited shelf life. The user can select one of the available temporary disposable numbers while submitting a permanent phone number associated with a communications device (e.g., mobile phone, home phone, business phone, etc.). Prior to activating the selected temporary disposable number, the temporary disposable number is linked to the permanent phone number. After activation, when an incoming call to the temporary disposable number is received, the permanent phone number is identified to be associated with the temporary disposable number being called. The incoming call is then forwarded to the communications device on which the permanent phone number is established.
