Communication systems and methods for using shared channels to increase peak data rates

The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for communicating data. In one exemplary embodiment, a system has a high-speed channel, such as an optical fiber, between a network facility, such as a central office (CO), and a first intermediate point between the network facility and a plurality of customer premises (CP). Digital communication links, such as DSL links, are used to carry data between the first intermediate point, such as a feeder distribution interface (FDI), and a second intermediate point, such as the Distribution Point (DP). Non-shared links may then carry the data from the second intermediate point to the CPs. The links between the two intermediate points are bonded to create a high-speed, shared data channel that permits peak data rates much greater than what would be achievable without bonding. In some embodiments, multicast data flows may be prioritized and transmitted across a set of connections to each of the intermediate points. In addition, it is possible to power components at the intermediate points from one or more of the CPs.

Text message transmission apparatus and method thereof

A text message transmission apparatus and a method thereof are provided. The text message transmission apparatus includes a mobile network communication module, a subscriber line interface circuit (SLIC) module and a processor. The mobile network communication module receives a text message. The SLIC module is configured to connect to a traditional telephone set in a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The processor is coupled to the mobile network communication module and the SLIC module. The processor decodes the text message to obtain a text content of the text message, transforms the text content into a speech content, and plays back the speech content through the SLIC module. Accordingly, the text messages can be transmitted through the PSTN.

TEXT MESSAGE TRANSMISSION APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREOF

A text message transmission apparatus and a method thereof are provided. The text message transmission apparatus includes a mobile network communication module, a subscriber line interface circuit (SLIC) module and a processor. The mobile network communication module receives a text message. The SLIC module is configured to connect to a traditional telephone set in a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The processor is coupled to the mobile network communication module and the SLIC module. The processor decodes the text message to obtain a text content of the text message, transforms the text content into a speech content, and plays back the speech content through the SLIC module. Accordingly, the text messages can be transmitted through the PSTN.

Embodiments of the invention provide apparatuses, systems and methods for distributing public information. For example, some embodiments of the invention provide methods for determining an appropriate set of addresses to which to distribute an alert. One such exemplary method comprises maintaining a directory of alert gateways. The directory can comprise a plurality of directory entries, and each directory entry can be associated with a particular alert gateway. Each directory entry can also comprise at least one gateway characteristic associated with that alert gateway. In some cases, a gateway characteristic can include information to enable the alert distribution device to determine whether a given alert should be transmitted to the alert gateway.

The relay is coupled between the controller and at least two of a plurality of pins of the network connection port. While an external network cable connected to the network connection port is not capable of supplying power over Ethernet (POE) or a power supply mode of the POE is a first mode of the POE, the relay connects a transmit node and a receive node of the controller to the at least two of the pins respectively. The controller and an external device connected to the external network cable transmit signals compatible with a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) interface to transmit data or instructions with each other through the at least two of the pins of the network connection port.

Various embodiments of the invention provide novel apparatus, methods and systems for providing relatively high-speed bandwidth to enable, inter alia, video transmission services over media previously unable to support such services. In accordance with certain embodiments, a device located at the telecommunication service provider can logically couple two or more physical media to provide a single, consolidated source of bandwidth, which can be used to transmit data, which can represent a video signal. In accordance with other embodiments, a device located at the subscriber's location can be used to receive the data from each of the two physical media and recreate the video signal from the data, such that the video signal can be transmitted to a display device, such as a television, monitor, etc.

A structure protects a SLIC telephone line interface against overvoltages lower than a negative threshold or higher than a positive threshold. The structure includes at least one thyristor connected between each conductor of the telephone line and a reference potential. For all of the included thyristors, a metallization corresponding to the main electrode on the gate side is in contact, by its entire surface, with a corresponding semiconductor region. Furthermore, the gate of each thyristor is directly connected to a voltage source defining one of the thresholds.

In the base of a cordless digital telephone set, a subscriber circuit module and a Bluetooth module can establish, under control of a main control module, a communications channel for direct interconnection, thereby reducing workload of the main control module, and optimizing a transmission path of voice data. The base of a cordless digital telephone set in embodiments of the present invention includes a switch module. When receiving a first control signal that is sent by the main control module, the switch module connects a communication data output pin of the subscriber line interface circuit module to a communication data input pin of the Bluetooth module; and connects a communication data input pin of the subscriber line interface circuit module to a communication data output pin of the Bluetooth module.
