The technology disclosed herein enables selective endpoint notification of incoming communications directed to a set of endpoints. In a particular embodiment, a method provides, in a communication control system, receiving a first request to establish a communication session with at least one endpoint in first set of endpoints. The first set of endpoints comprises two or more endpoints and the request is directed to the first set of endpoints. The method further provides identifying a first subset of the first set of endpoints based on application of one or more override rules to the first request. The override rules define conditions wherein fewer than all of the first set of endpoints should be notified of the first request. The method also provides notifying the first subset about the first request.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to routing of an emergency communication under fault conditions. Routing can be implemented in a packet-switching (PS) network that provides voice service. For a network node of the PS network, availability to route the emergency communication through a specific emergency service routing number (ESRN) can be determined and, in response to the network node being unavailable, administrative data associated with the ESRN can be accessed. In addition, an identifier associated with the administrative data can be updated (e.g., created or modified) with data indicative of the device that originated the emergency communication. The administrative data and the resulting identifier can be delivered to a second network node that can route the emergency communication to an emergency service network.

There is provided mechanisms for requesting prioritized call handling. A method is performed by a wireless device. The method includes obtaining an indication that the wireless device is experiencing a prioritized call situation. The indication dynamically triggers the wireless device to become part of a prioritized access class. The method includes requesting, during a call set-up procedure with a network node and only when the wireless device is experiencing the prioritized call situation, prioritized call handling.

In one aspect, a device includes a processor and storage accessible to the processor. The storage bears instructions executable by the processor to parse content of a message and determine, based on the parsing of content of the message, whether to provide a notification using the device. The instructions are also executable by the processor to provide the notification responsive to a determination, based on the parsing of content of the message, to provide the notification using the device.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to routing of an emergency communication under fault conditions. Routing can be implemented in a packet-switching (PS) network that provides voice service. A method, device and medium for establishing service connection are provided. The method includes: when a first-type service connection has been established, receiving a connection request message sent from a network device, the connection request message at least carrying the second-type service connection; and determining whether to establish the second-type service connection with the network device according to the first-type service connection and the second-type service connection, and responding according to the determination result.

A device, system and method for determining a prioritized list of communication groups is provided. A computing device monitors current call statistics of a plurality of communication groups, the communication device assigned to the plurality of communication groups. The computing device, based on a comparison of the current call statistics with historical call statistics of the plurality of communication groups, generates a prioritized list of the plurality of communication groups. The computing device transmits, to the communication device, the prioritized list. The communication device may render the list for selection of a communication group, and/or automatically change to a highest priority communication group of the prioritized list, and/or when bandwidth of a current site is unavailable to communicate on the highest priority communication group, roam to a site with available bandwidth to change to a highest priority communication group in the prioritized list.

A method for passing content to at least one communicator device. The user of a communicator device registers with at least one service provider for delivering a plurality of different types of content to be passed to the at least one communicator device. A user defined priority is assigned to the at least one type of content. The user defined priority is stored on a computer readable medium. The different types of content are passed to the at least one communicator device based on the user defined priority.

A text message transmission apparatus and a method thereof are provided. The text message transmission apparatus includes a mobile network communication module, a subscriber line interface circuit (SLIC) module and a processor. The mobile network communication module receives a text message. The SLIC module is configured to connect to a traditional telephone set in a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The processor is coupled to the mobile network communication module and the SLIC module. The processor decodes the text message to obtain a text content of the text message, transforms the text content into a speech content, and plays back the speech content through the SLIC module. Accordingly, the text messages can be transmitted through the PSTN.
