The method includes streaming the compressed interactive video over a packetized network from the data center to one or more client devices associated with one or more users. Each client device is located geographically remote to the data center, and the server is configured to receive input to drive gameplay of the video game by said one or more client devices. The compressed interactive video is configured for decompression and presentation at said one or more client devices. The method includes receiving, by the server, updates from said one or more clients devices regarding a quality of said uncompressed interactive video that is received from said streaming. The method includes adjusting automatically, by the compression unit, a rate of compression provided to one or more of said client devices based on said updates received regarding the quality of said uncompressed interactive video for the video game.

According to the disclosure of the present document, a decoded picture buffer (DPB) may be updated on the basis of DPB-related information. The DPB-related information may include a syntax element related to a maximum required size of the DPB. In updating the DPB, a bumping process may be invoked on the basis of a case where a first condition, in which the number of pictures in the DPB is neither greater than nor equal to a value obtained by adding 1 to a value of the syntax element related to the maximum required size of the DPB, is satisfied.

Compensating for images with overlapped block disparity compensation (OBDC) involves determining if OBDC is enabled in a video bit stream, and determining if OBDC is enabled for one or more macroblocks that neighbor a first macroblock within the video bit stream. The neighboring macroblocks may be transform coded. If OBDC is enabled in the video bit stream and for the one or more neighboring macroblocks, predictions may be made for a region of the first macroblock that has an edge adjacent with the neighboring macroblocks. OBDC can be causally applied. Disparity compensation parameters or modes may be shared amongst views or layers. A variety of predictions may be used with causally-applied OBDC.
