RESIDUAL PROCESSING FOR VIDEO ENCODING AND DECODING
A method, apparatus or system for processing video information can involve determining at least one Rice parameter associated with a transform residual coding process applied during encoding of a block of picture information, wherein the Rice parameter is a fixed value, or is determined based on, for example, a frequency region or a coefficient scanning position for the transform residual coding, or a number of neighbors of the block of picture information, and encoding or decoding the block of picture information based on the at least one Rice parameter.
ADAPTATION PARAMETER SET SIGNALING BASED ON COLOR FORMAT
A video processing method includes performing a conversion between a video comprising a video unit and a bitstream of the video according to a rule. The rule specifies whether or how to include, in an adaptation parameter set (APS), information related to a scaling list of the video is based on a first syntax element. The first syntax element indicates whether the APS includes chroma component related syntax elements and is independent of one or more syntax elements in a sequence parameter set (SPS).
CHROMA SUBSAMPLING AND GAMUT RESHAPING
Downsampled video content is generated in a subsampling color space from linearized video content in the subsampling color space. The linearized video content represents a first spatial dimension, whereas the downsampled video content represents a second spatial dimension lower than the first spatial dimension. Opponent channel data is derived in a transmission color space from the downsampled video content. Output video content is generated from luminance data in the linearized video content and the opponent channel data in the transmission color space. The output video content may be decoded by a downstream recipient device to generate video content in an output color space.
Method and Apparatus for Entropy Coding of Source Samples with Large Alphabet
A general entropy coding method for source symbols is disclosed. This method determines a prefix part and any suffix part for the current symbol. The method divides prefix of the source symbol into at least two parts by comparing a test value related to the prefix part against a threshold. If the test value is greater than or equal to the threshold, the method derives a first binary string by binarizing a first prefix part related to the prefix part using a first variable length code. If the test value related to the prefix part is less than the threshold, the method derives a second binary string by binarizing a second prefix part related to the prefix part using a second variable length code or a first fixed-length code. The method then encodes at least one of the first binary string and the second binary string using a CABAC mode.
CASCADE PREDICTION
A first predictor is applied to an input image to generate first-stage predicted codewords approximating prediction target codewords of a prediction target image. Second-stage prediction target values are created by performing an inverse cascade operation on the prediction target codewords and the first-stage predicted codewords. A second predictor is applied to the input image to generate second-stage predicted values approximating the second-stage prediction target values. Multiple sets of cascade prediction coefficients are generated to comprise first and second sets of cascade prediction coefficients specifying the first and second predictors. The multiple sets of cascade prediction coefficients are encoded, in a video signal, as image metadata. The video signal is further encoded with the input image.
Video or image coding based on mapping of luma samples and scaling of chroma samples
According to the disclosure of the present document, the granularity of value(s) of a chroma residual scaling factor can be controlled through explicit signaling of information on the value(s) of the chroma residual scaling factor. In addition, chroma residual scaling can be efficiently performed through implicit derivation of the information on the value(s) of the chroma residual scaling factor.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CROSS-COMPONENT ADAPTIVE LOOP FILTER
A method for video processing using Cross-Component Adaptive Loop Filter (CCALF) is provided. The method includes filtering decoded video content using a CCALF, wherein the CCALF is a 24-tap 9×9 filter.
Video codec using template matching prediction
Video decoder and/or video encoder, configured to determine a set of search area location candidates in a reference picture of a video; match the set of search area location candidates with a current template area adjacent to a current block of a current picture to obtain a best matching search area location candidate; select, out of a search area positioned in the reference picture at the best matching search area location candidate, a set of one or more predictor blocks by matching the current template area against the search area; and predictively decode/encode the current block from/into a data stream based on the set of one or more predictor blocks.
METHOD FOR GENERATING AT LEAST ONE ENCODING RULE TO ENCODE AN IMAGE CAPTURED BY AN OPTICAL SENSOR, METHOD FOR ENCODING AN IMAGE CAPTURED BY AN OPTICAL SENSOR, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING UNIT
A method for generating at least one encoding rule to encode an image captured by an optical sensor. The method includes at least one step of reading in the image captured by the optical sensor, and a step of generating a frequency distribution of an occurrence of light-signal values at different pixels in the image. The method further includes a step of assigning code words to light-signal values, using the frequency distribution, in order to generate the at least one encoding rule for encoding the image captured by the optical sensor.
SEGMENT POSITION SIGNALLING WITH SUBPICTURE SLICE POSITION DERIVING
There are provided mechanisms for performed by a decoder. The method comprises receiving a coded video stream (CVS). The method comprises processing the CVS, wherein: the CVS comprises a first set of one or more codewords that encodes a first set of one or more values representing a first part of a segment address, the CVS comprises a second set of one or more codewords that encodes a second set of one or more values representing a second part of the segment address, and the segment address specifies the spatial location of a segment within a picture.
