In one embodiment, a method includes the steps of downscaling the one or more images, and encoding the one or more downscaled images using an image codec. Another embodiment concerns a computer-implemented method of decoding encoded image data, and a computer-implemented method of encoding and decoding image data.

A method, computer program, and computer system is provided for video encoding and decoding. Video data including one or more frames is received. One or more quantization parameters associated with the received video data are determined for frame generation or enhancement of a target frame from among the one or more frames. The video data is decoded based on the determined quantization parameters.

A method for managing image data in an automotive lighting device. This method includes the steps of providing an image pattern, dividing the image pattern in rows or columns of pixels, and providing for each row pattern, a plurality of linear segments, each linear segment is characterized by two values. The data of the linear segments is compressed, and the compressed data is sent to the light module. The invention also provides an automotive lighting device for performing the steps of such a method.

This disclosure relates to video coding and more particularly to techniques for signaling picture output resolution for coded video. According to an aspect of an invention, a first flag syntax element indicating whether conformance cropping window offset parameters are present in a sequence parameter set is parsed, wherein the conformance cropping window offset parameters specify a cropping window that is applied to pictures with a width equal to a maximum width and a height equal to a maximum height.

Such systems and methods can include a camera that can capture the sequence of images of a monitored region, a detection processor that can identify a first region that contains an element of interest within the sequence of images, and an encoder that can encode the first region within a first subset of the sequence of images with a first resolution and encode a second region within the first subset of the sequence of images outside of the first region with a second resolution that is less than the first resolution, wherein a number of the sequence of images in the first subset of the sequence of images is less than all of the sequence of images and is based on a predefined parameter.
