The present technology relates to a file processing device and a file processing method for enabling restriction of viewing of an image.

A file control unit generates a file that stores an encrypted image obtained by encrypting an image with a first encryption key, and an encrypted encryption key obtained by encrypting the first encryption key with a second encryption key, the encrypted image and the encrypted encryption key being associated with each other in the file. The file control unit also decrypts the encrypted encryption key in the file into the first encryption key, and, with the first encryption key obtained by the decryption, decrypts the encrypted image into the image. The present technology can be applied to a digital camera and the like that capture images, for example.

Apparatus and methods for encrypting captured media. In one embodiment, the method includes capturing media data via use of a lens of an image capture apparatus; obtaining a number used only once (NONCE) value from the captured media data; obtaining an encryption key for use in encryption of the captured media data; using the obtained NONCE value and the obtained encryption key for encrypting the captured media data; and storing the encrypted media data. In some variants, the media is encrypted prior to storage, thereby obviating any instances in which the captured media data resides in a wholly unencrypted instance. Apparatus and methods for decrypting encrypted captured media are also disclosed.

A method and apparatus for secure transfer and playback of multimedia content enables the secure transfer of multimedia content from a digital video recorder (DVR) to a personal computer (PC) and further to a handheld device. A DVR determines which devices on a Local Area Network (LAN) are authorized to share and/or retrieve content from the DVR. The DVR receives a connection request from a PC on the LAN, authorizes the connection request and establishes a secure connection between the DVR and the PC. Once the secure connection is established, the DVR receives a request for multimedia content from the PC, prepares the multimedia content for transfer and transfers the multimedia content to the PC.

A surveillance camera system includes a camera and an image recorder. The image recorder receives a plurality of images captured by the camera and selectively encrypting the plurality of images captured by the camera to generate an encrypted file.

In a data structure of a multimedia file format, a movie box and a media data box are provided. In each box, a non-encrypted size field, a non-encrypted type field and box data field are provided. In box data of the movie box, information data regarding multimedia data is stored. The multimedia data is encrypted and stored in box data of the media data box. The information data is obtained by referring to the container in the movie box. This information data is held as encryption and encoding information data. By referring to the information data, a data unit of the encrypted multimedia data in the media data box is obtained, and the unit data is decrypted.

A configuration in which a reliable source of illegal copy content is analyzed using content in which a reproduction path can be set is realized. Content which has a segment area including a plurality of items of variation data which can be decrypted using different keys and in which a reproduction path corresponding to the selected variation data can be set is used. Each item of variation data is configured such that embedded information such as a digital watermark can be acquired from decrypted data. Each item of variation data includes a 192-byte source packet or a 6144-byte aligned unit. A reproduction device selects and reproduces one item of variation data from each segment area on the basis of a variation data identifier recorded in the variation data.

A non-transitory tangible recording medium stores recorded AV data. The AV data includes a system stream file played by a playback device and a management information file having management information corresponding to the system stream file. The system stream file includes a first segment including repeated a first data unit that be decrypted using a first decryption key that the playback device individually has and a second data unit that cannot be decrypted by the first decryption key. The system stream file also includes a second segment which can be decrypted using a second decryption key that the playback device has in common with another playback device. The management information file has a start source packet number, which identifies a start source packet out of a plurality of source packets storing an I-picture that is a random access point, and the start source packet is situated in the second segment.

A digital information recording apparatus includes a recording circuit for recording information of a retention period included in the digital information and indicating a period for permitting the digital information to be held in the recording medium, starting with a time at which the digital information is recorded on the recording medium; and information of a playback permission period included in the digital information and indicating a period for permitting the digital information to be played back starting with a time at which the information is reproduced initially following recording of the digital information on the recording medium, permitting temporary recording or copying for the information permitted for “copy never” or “copy one generation.”

An interface is realized that can prevent video signals from being copied easily and which uses a luminance/color difference signal transmission scheme with an excellent harmony with a television circuit. In a video transmission using a digital interface, colorimetry information for defining the conversion from the luminance/color difference signal into a primary color signal and video aspect ratio information are transmitted along with the luminance/color difference type video signal. This allows reproduction of video with high quality and high resolution and also realizes a copyright protection which allows only the users authorized by key information to use the content of the video. With this transmission scheme, it is possible to provide a transmitting apparatus, a receiving apparatus and an interface which highly harmonize with a rationalized television-based circuit.

There is provided a device and a method for preventing using of illegitimate content or manufacturing of the illegitimate media that uses illegitimate media. In a system that has an information storage device, a license management apparatus that generates a media key set (MKS) that is stored in the information storage device, and a content provision apparatus, at the time of manufacturing of the information storage device, the license management apparatus compares an MKS version that is set in the MKS that is stored in the information storage device, and an allowance minimum MKS version that is recorded in a controller of the information storage device, and thus records key information stored in the MKS, in a storage unit under the condition that it is confirmed that the MKS version is equal to or greater in value than the allowance minimum MKS version.
