Portable Audio Content Device and Method of Use Thereof
The present invention relates to a portable audio content device such as a USB flash drive with pre-loaded audio content. The device is compatible with the USB ports of music/audio systems of vehicles and enables playing audio without a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, satellite, or internet connection. The device has a flash memory for loading audio content and a USB interface for inserting into the USB port of a music system. The device has a housing for accommodating flash memory, a memory controller, an integrated silicon package and a connector. The exterior surface of the housing displays an art cover or other images related to content stored in the drive. The drive provides a plurality of controls on display of the vehicle for controlling playing of the audio content. Further, the device can be formatted to load new audio content and/or delete existing audio content.
SINK DEVICE
A sink device is bi-directionally communicably connected to the source device. The sink device includes a first memory, and a controller. Stored in the first memory is a plurality of pieces of audio format information including information representing an audio format that the sink device can process. The controller selects, from among the plurality of pieces of audio format information stored in the first memory, one piece of audio format information corresponding to receiver format information representing an audio format that a receiver device connected to the sink device can process. The controller then outputs the selected audio format information to the source device.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPTIMIZING A SET-TOP BOX TO RETRIEVE MISSED CONTENT
The systems and methods described herein optimize the retrieval of missed content by playing back cached content to enable tuners with limited capacity to retrieve the missed content. A content presentation system may receive, with a tuner, a transmission of content comprising media content and advertisements. The content presentation system may cache the advertisements. The content presentation system may determine whether an interruption during the transmission resulted in a missed portion of content and, in response, determine whether an advertisement upcoming at a time period in the transmission of content is cached. If the upcoming advertisement is cached, the content presentation system may play back the cached advertisement at the time period and release the tuner previously receiving the transmission of content to retrieve the missed portion of the content during the time period.
Method and apparatus for generating an overlay code for a set top box from an external device
A communication system 10 including a host device 14 in communication with an external device 40 through a pair of interfaces 48/50. The external device has an application code image module 42 therein. The host device 14 includes an application execution area 66 and a resource application programming interface (API) 60. The host device 14 stores the application code image in the application execution area 66. The application code image controls a function in the host device 14 using the resource application interface. When the function is performed, the application code image may be removed from the host device 14.
GATEWAY DEVICE
A gateway device is provided. The gateway device comprises a plurality of RF transceivers. Each RF transceiver is for providing a network connection between the gateway device and a corresponding wireless communication network in a plurality of wireless communication networks. The gateway device comprises a processor for receiving raw video recorded by a video camera connected to the gateway device, receiving an identification of a set of one or more destination devices to receive a livestream video from the gateway device, determining a quality of the network connections between the gateway device and the plurality of wireless communication networks, selecting a wireless communication network with a highest quality network connection for communicating with the set of destination devices, encoding the raw video into a compressed video stream, and livestreaming the compressed video stream to the set of destinations devices through the RF transceiver corresponding to the selected wireless communication network.
Method and apparatus for archiving media content
The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for archiving media content, and more particularly to archiving television and radio broadcasts for later delivery, on-demand, via the Internet. A capture server is used to receive and gather a plurality of media sources for archiving and subsequent delivery to client users. The capture server is capable of receiving numerous digital or analog media signals from a variety of media sources, including transmission through traditional broadcast, coaxial cable, the Internet, personal and public camera systems and the like, and converting these media signals into addressable blocks of media content. Furthermore, the capture server is capable of encoding received media signals, particularly analog media signals, applying an application programming interface and preparing the media signals for implementation by the system in an identifiable form or architecture.
