This application provides a method for selecting a neighbor point of a current point in a point cloud. The method includes: determining, from point cloud data, a target region where the current point is located, the target region comprising a plurality of points; determining, for at least two decoded target points in the target region, a weight coefficient of each of the at least two target points, the at least two target points not comprising the current point; determining a weight of each of the at least two target points according to the weight coefficient and geometry information of each of the at least two target points and geometry information of the current point; and selecting at least one from the at least two target points according to the weight of each of the at least two target points as the neighbor point of the current point.

Operations for content characterization may include launching an image analysis application, selecting a top level category to apply to a thumbnail, providing the thumbnail to the image analysis application, applying the selected top level category to the thumbnail to determine if the thumbnail satisfies the top level category, if satisfied, associating the top level category with the thumbnail, and repeating the one or more of the above operations with respect to a second category. Operations may include receiving an identification of a node to receive a thumbnail, obtaining a node selected category, receiving a proposed thumbnail to provide to the node, and determining if the proposed thumbnail has been previously recognized and categorized.

A method for providing media content within a media distribution network. The method comprises transforming source media content into an interim format, thereby providing transformed content. Furthermore, the method comprises storing the transformed content on at least one core storage unit. In addition, the method comprises receiving a request for the source media content from a client. The method further comprises encoding the transformed content or intermediate coded content derived therefrom into encoded content suitable for transmission over a core network and/or an edge network, as well as sending the encoded content via the core network and/or the edge network to the client.

A method for providing media content within a media distribution network. The method comprises transforming source media content into an interim format, thereby providing transformed content. Furthermore, the method comprises storing the transformed content on at least one core storage unit. In addition, the method comprises receiving a request for the source media content from a client. The method further comprises encoding the transformed content or intermediate coded content derived therefrom into encoded content suitable for transmission over a core network and/or an edge network, as well as sending the encoded content via the core network and/or the edge network to the client.

The present invention relates to a method for dynamic image content replacement in a video stream comprising generating a set of key image data (K) comprising a sequence of at least two different key images (K1, K2), periodically displaying said set of key image data (K) on a physical display, generating at least a first original video stream (O1) of a scene which includes said physical display by recording said scene with a camera, wherein said at least one video stream (O1) comprises key video frames (FK1, FK2), captures synchronously with displaying each of said at least two different key images (K1, K2) of said set of key image data (K) on said physical display, generating a mask area (MA) corresponding to an active area of said physical display visible in said key video frames from differential images (AFK) obtained from consecutive key video frames (FK1, FK2), generating at least one alternative video stream (V) by inserting of alternative image content (I) into the mask area (MA) of an original video stream, and broadcasting at least said at least one alternative video stream.

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method of content-layer based compression of a video being broadcasted over a network. The method may include: receiving a video stream comprising a plurality of video stream frames; identifying in at least some of the plurality of video stream frames at least two content-layers of predefined content-layers to yield corresponding at least two content-layer streams, wherein each of the at least two content-layer streams is associated with one of the at least two content-layers; and compressing each of the at least two content-layer video streams according to predetermined parameters of the content-layer associated with the respective content-layer video stream and according to available resources of the network to yield corresponding at least two compressed content-layer streams.
