APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING BROADCAST SIGNALS, APPARATUS FOR RECEIVING BROADCAST SIGNALS, METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING BROADCAST SIGNALS AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING BROADCAST SIGNALS
The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, formatting input streams into Data Pipe (DP) data, Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) encoding the DP data according to a code rate, bit interleaving the LDPC encoded DP data, mapping the hit interleaved DP data onto constellations, building at least one signal frame including the mapped DP data, and modulating data in the built signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data, wherein the input streams include Audio/Video (A/V) data and service guide data, and wherein the Audio/Video (A/V) data and service guide data are included in first ISO base media file format (ISOBMFF) files.
Adaptive bit-rate methods for live broadcasting
The following describes techniques to maintain continuity of a live media stream. A media stream includes a first distribution layer with a first set of key frames and a set of delta frames succeeding key frames in the first set of key frames. The media stream also includes a second distribution layer including a second set of key frames, where the second set of key frames contains fewer key frames than the first set of key frames. Using the first and second distribution layers, a client device may subscribe to the media stream with a minimized start-up time and optimized quality of experience among varying complexity of the media content and dynamic network conditions.
Hybrid Audio/Visual Imagery Entertainment System With Live Audio Stream Playout And Separate Live Or Prerecorded Visual Imagery Stream Playout
A hybrid audio and visual imagery entertainment system that combines visual imagery obtained as live visual imagery or prerecorded visual imagery with the transmission of live audio displayed on a display for therapeutic benefit to a user. Each of the visual imagery and audio of the system can be viewed or heard by the user on its own, however, it is designed to be viewed and heard simultaneously but where the audio and visual imagery streams are separate and unsynchronized and displayed on a display for viewing and hearing by a user.
Adaptive Bitrate Streaming Time Shift Buffer
Various embodiments describe methods, systems, and devices for deploying live media content as a time-shifted playback. Exemplary implementations may receive, from a client computing device, a content request for a time-shifted playback of live media content. The time-shifted playback may use a unique copy of a live media content configured for playback associated with the content request. The content request may indicate a past point in time in the live media content from which the time-shifted playback originates. The client computing device may be provided access to an assigned private path for accessing segments of the time-shifted playback starting from a requested segment that corresponds to the indicated past point in time. Access by the client computing device to further segments of the time-shifted playback may be prevented in response to determining that the subsequent content request for playback of the second live media content is received.
Method and apparatus for providing audio and video within an acceptable delay tolerance
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for delivering video and audio to one or more user devices. A method includes obtaining a video signal and an audio signal that are synchronized in time. The method includes applying a first time delay, greater than a predetermined maximum amount of time delay, to the video signal and outputting the delayed video signal to a display device. The method includes generating a plurality of copies of the audio signal and applying a plurality of time delays to the copies of the audio signal. A different time delay is applied to each of the plurality of copies of the audio signal and each of the plurality of time delays is smaller than the first time delay. The method includes outputting the plurality of delayed copies of the audio signal for broadcast to one or more user devices over a wireless network.
METHOD FOR MANAGING TIME HOPS WHEN PLAYING BACK A MULTIMEDIA CONTENT ITEM
A method for managing time hops when playing back a multimedia content item received by a playback device via a communication network. The method includes obtaining a plurality of broadcast channels for the same content item, the respective broadcast times being spaced in time, wherein, during rendering of the content item via a channel, called first channel, receipt of a time hop command for a time hop in the content item brings about: a step of selecting a second broadcast channel, different from the first broadcast channel; and during a hop, a step of rendering images broadcast on broadcast channels belonging to the plurality of broadcast channels.
System and method for merging network-based content with broadcasted programming content
According to one embodiment of the invention, a method comprising an operation of identifying what programming content is currently being transmitted or is scheduled to be displayed by an electronic device that is adapted to receive programming content from a live content broadcaster. A lookup of networked content providers having stored content associated with the programming content is performed and metadata associated with the stored content is obtained. Then, relational information from the metadata is produced. The relational information is output for rendering at least one advanced option icon that is adapted to provide enhanced viewing functionality.
MULTICAST-BASED CONTENT TRANSMITTING SYSTEM AND METHOD, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING HIGH-SPEED MOVEMENT
The present invention relates to a multicast-based content transmitting system and method, and a device and method for estimating high-speed movement. Included are: a content providing device for generating N×M multicast stream channels having different transmission start times and transmission rates, providing N×M multicast stream channel lists, and transmitting content through one channel of N×M multicast stream channels; and a user terminal for selecting one channel of the N×M multicast stream channel lists provided from the content providing device and receiving content through the selected multicast stream channel.
Video delivery method and apparatus, and electronic device
A video distribution method and apparatus and an electronic device, where the video distribution method includes: obtaining a popularity of each video program, wherein the popularity is a preference degree of a user group for a video program within a statistic time period; and determining, according the popularity of each video program, to distribute a video content of the video program through repeating broadcasting channels or by means of broadcasting on demand.
Synchronization of clients to maximize multicast opportunities
A content monitor includes a processor that at least receives requests from a plurality of clients for content, instructs each client to retry their respective request at a first later time if the request is received before a first time, counts the requests to determine if a number of the requests exceeds a threshold if the request is received before a second time, instructs each client to retry their respective request at a second later time if the counted number of requests does not exceed a first threshold, instructs each client to join a multicast group to receive the content when the number of requests exceeds the first threshold, and counts a number of late clients joining the multicast group after a first portion of the content has been sent to the multicast group.
