Methods, systems, computer readable media, and apparatuses for providing synchronous supplemental experiences are presented. According to one or more aspects, a video signal may be transmitted to a display device, and a sync signal may be transmitted to at least one other device. The sync signal may include an identifier of a program currently being displayed and a time value indicating a current point in time of the program. In at least one arrangement, the sync signal may cause the at least one other device to access content synchronization data; determine, based on the content synchronization data, that at least one supplemental experience corresponds to the identifier of the program and the time value; and present the at least one supplemental experience to a user.

Method for synchronizing an additional signal to a primary signal
11570506 · 2023-01-31 · ·

The present invention relates to a method for synchronizing an additional signal to a primary signal. Synchronization information for a primary signal is generated by extracting at least one signal feature sequence of the primary signal and comparing it to DB feature sequences stored in a database. If the signal feature sequence matches one of the DB feature sequences to a predetermined degree, then synchronization information of the matching DB feature sequences is allocated to the primary signal at a position specified by the signal feature sequence. The synchronization information is transmitted to a playback device, which outputs an additional signal to the primary signal based on the synchronization information.

Media content identification on mobile devices

A mobile device responds in real time to media content presented on a media device, such as a television. The mobile device captures temporal fragments of audio-video content on its microphone, camera, or both and generates corresponding audio-video query fingerprints. The query fingerprints are transmitted to a search server located remotely or used with a search function on the mobile device for content search and identification. Audio features are extracted and audio signal global onset detection is used for input audio frame alignment. Additional audio feature signatures are generated from local audio frame onsets, audio frame frequency domain entropy, and maximum change in the spectral coefficients. Video frames are analyzed to find a television screen in the frames, and a detected active television quadrilateral is used to generate video fingerprints to be combined with audio fingerprints for more reliable content identification.

Systems and methods for seamlessly outputting embedded media from a digital page on nearby devices most suitable for access

Systems and methods for enhancing user experience in accessing media of a certain content type by outputting the media on a nearby device that is better suited for access. For example, a media guidance application may determine that a user is accessing, on his/her smartphone, a digital page (e.g., a website, a newsfeed, etc.) that features embedded content (e.g., photos, movies, music, etc.). In response to determining that the user has navigated to an embedded content, such as a video clip, the media guidance application may determine a device in the vicinity of the user that is better suited than the user's smartphone for playback of the video clip. For example, a nearby smart television may have a larger screen, better sound output, and a better display resolution than the smartphone. As a result, the media guidance application may cause the smart television to output the video clip.

Virtual platform for recording and displaying responses and reactions to audiovisual contents

A method and a system for receiving a user's selection of a content, retrieving data about the content, tracking content consumption, launching a reactive module based on input from the user, registering a timestamped response of the user, the response comprising a graphic symbol is provided. The method may be further comprise receiving content-retrieving information from a second user, searching contents to identify a candidate for the second user's consumption, receiving a selection of a content from the candidate, tracking a position of the content that is selected and being consumed by the second user, launching the reactive module on a second client device based on input from the second user. The virtual platform provides an electronic venue of dynamic communications for content consumers, where users experience pseudo-realtime interactions by seeing the virtual platform's reconstruction of other users' responses that shows reacting users' emotional status.

Synchronizing video content with extrinsic data

Disclosed are various embodiments for associating and synchronizing extrinsic data with video content at particular points of time in the video content. In one embodiment, an application identifies a video content feature currently being presented via a display device. A current time in the video content feature are determined. Performers potentially depicted in the video content feature at the current time are determined. The application then generates a user interface configured to receive a user selection of a particular performer from the performers, where the user selection indicates that the particular performer is depicted in the video content feature at the current time.

Electronic Devices and Corresponding Methods for Redirecting Event Notifications in Multi-Person Content Presentation Environments
20220408159 · 2022-12-22 ·

An electronic device includes a communication device electronically communicating with a content presentation companion device operating as a primary display for the electronic device and at least one augmented reality companion device. One or more sensors detect multiple persons within an environment while the content presentation companion device operates as the primary display. One or more processors redirect an event notification intended for presentation on the primary display to the augmented reality companion device while both the content presentation companion device operates as the primary display for the electronic device and the multiple persons are within the environment of the electronic device. When communicating with two augmented reality companion devices, the one or more processors can direct subtitles associated with a content offering, sometimes in different languages, to at least a first augmented reality companion device and a second augmented reality companion device.

MEDIA PLAYBACK SYNCHRONIZATION ON MULTIPLE SYSTEMS

A system includes a primary playback system and a secondary playback system. The primary playback system plays back selected content. The secondary playback system monitors progress of the primary playback system playing back the content. Based on detected progress, the secondary playback system synchronizes playback of supplemental media (such as descriptive audio, closed caption text, etc.) associated with the content on a secondary playback system operated by a user. In response to detecting a scheduled advertisement window during playback of the content on the primary playback system, the secondary playback system discontinues playback of the supplemental media associated with the content on the secondary playback system. During or after playback of the advertisement on the primary playback system, the secondary playback system monitors playback of the selected content by the primary playback system to re-synchronize playback of supplemental media to the playback of the content on the secondary playback system.

MEDIA PLAYBACK SYNCHRONIZATION OF MULTIPLE PLAYBACK SYSTEMS

A system includes a primary playback system and a secondary playback system. The primary playback system plays back selected content. The secondary playback system plays back supplemental media associated with the content played back on the primary playback system. A media playback function (such as associated with the secondary playback system) monitors playback of the content on the primary playback system. For example, a first processing thread of the media playback function initially synchronizes playback of supplemental media on the secondary playback system with respect to playback of the content on the primary playback system. Based on further monitoring of playing back the content on the secondary playback system, a second processing thread of the media playback function verifies synchronization (and, when needed, initiates re-synchronization) of playback of the supplemental media on the secondary playback system with respect to playback of the content on the primary playback system.
