Systems, methods, and non-transitory, machine-readable media to facilitate updating media devices in a local network with a client-server architecture are disclosed. A primary media device may be configured to operate as a server in a local network, receive audio/video (A/V) content via an Internet connection and/or a satellite network connection, serve the A/V content to a set of one or more secondary media devices for display with at least one television of a set of one or more televisions, and receive a set of one or more software updates via the Internet connection, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection, and/or the satellite network connection. One or more software updates of the set of one or more software updates may be specified for, and may be transferred to, the set of one or more secondary media devices.

In a method for transmitting and reproducing acoustic information, acoustic data is provided which comprises a first data component and a second data component, wherein the first data component does not contain speech information, and the second data component contains speech information. Each piece of data is reproduced by first and second audio reproduction means (30, 40) such that all users (101, 102) can hear the acoustic signals emitted by the first audio reproduction means (30) together, and the acoustic signals emitted by the second audio reproduction means (40) can be heard substantially only by the corresponding user (101, 102).

Systems and methods are provided herein for determining types of references within a content item and mapping them to particular applications. A content management application identifies an entity and a context of the entity at a location within the content item. The content management application may identify the entity and the context of the entity in real time as a first user device processes the content item, or the content management application may identify and store the entity and the context of the entity in a database before providing the content item. After determining a presence of a second user device associated with a profile, the content management application determines at least one application associated with the entity and the context of the entity on the second user device and launches the application to create an immersive content consumption experience.

A set-top box with enhanced content and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, a wireless transceiver is located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes a television input, television output, a processor, and memory. The set-top box may establish a pairing with a proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device having a display. Content, such music, for example, may be imported from the proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device and provided to the television. While the music is playing, the set-top box may generate and provide to the television a control signal that includes instructions to adjust the brightness of the television by dimming the television.

A media image communication system provides a secure method of communications between the media host and the client receiving and viewing the media. The media image communication system converts a typical text message into an image file format to prevent unauthorized access to the message, and to prevent any changes and/or manipulation of the message content.

A hospitality property management tool and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the system, the system includes a set-top box located in a room at a hospitality establishment having multiple rooms. The set-top box stores various types of set-top box data and transmits the set-top box data to a remote server. The remote server receives and stores the set-top box data. The server may render a map view of the hospitality establishment based on obtained map data. The map view may include a graphical representation of the room and other rooms at the hospitality establishment. The server may annotate the graphical representation of the room with at least a portion of the set-top box data.

Disclosed is an electronic apparatus. The electronic apparatus includes a first communicator, a second communicator; and a processor configured to determine whether or not an external electronic apparatus outputting input speech is connectable to a network connectable through the first communicator, based on the input speech, and to transmit a signal for controlling the external electronic apparatus to the external electronic apparatus through the first communicator or the second communicator depending on whether or not the external electronic apparatus is connectable to the network.

A set top box (STB) providing enhanced Wi-Fi coverage. The STB downloads and configures an extender service agent for implementing extender capability at the STB. pairing the extender service agent with a router, and providing extended wireless IP connectivity using a fronthaul connection via the antenna to clients in range of IP signals radiated by the antenna. When the STB uses a wired backhaul connection all of an available bandwidth is used for the fronthaul connection, and when a wireless backhaul connection is used, the available bandwidth is split between the backhaul connection and the fronthaul connection.

This application provides a projection connection control method and an electronic device. The method includes: A transmit end device obtains preemption capability information from a receive end device, where the preemption capability information indicates whether the receive end device supports projection connection preemption; and when the receive end device supports projection connection preemption, the transmit end device sends first configuration information to the receive end device in response to a user instruction, so as to configure the receive end device to not support projection connection preemption.

Example systems, apparatus, and methods receive audio information including a plurality of frames from a source device, wherein each frame of the plurality of frames includes one or more audio samples and a time stamp indicating when to play the one or more audio samples of the respective frame. In an example, the time stamp is updated for each of the plurality of frames using a time differential value determined between clock information received from the source device and clock information associated with the device. The updated time stamp is stored for each of the plurality of frames, and the audio information is output based on the plurality of frames and associated updated time stamps. A number of samples per frame to be output is adjusted based on a comparison between the updated time stamp for the frame and a predicted time value for play back of the frame.
