In a method for transmitting and reproducing acoustic information, acoustic data is provided which comprises a first data component and a second data component, wherein the first data component does not contain speech information, and the second data component contains speech information. Each piece of data is reproduced by first and second audio reproduction means (30, 40) such that all users (101, 102) can hear the acoustic signals emitted by the first audio reproduction means (30) together, and the acoustic signals emitted by the second audio reproduction means (40) can be heard substantially only by the corresponding user (101, 102).

Systems and methods for audio analytics and audio-based accessibility are provided. A user audio profile may be stored in memory for a user. The user audio profile may include a custom prioritization of one or more audio parameters associated with one or more audio modifications. Audio streams associated with a user device of the user may be monitored based on the user audio profile during a current session. The audio parameters may be detected as being present in the monitored audio streams, and the detected audio parameters may be prioritized based on the custom prioritization of the user audio profile. A sound property of at least one of the audio streams may be modified in real-time based on the prioritization of the detected audio parameters by applying the audio modifications of the user audio profile to the at least one audio stream before the at least one audio stream is provided to the user device.

Methods and systems are described herein for improving audio for hearing impaired content consumers. An example method may comprise determining a content asset. Closed caption data associated with the content asset may be determined. At least a portion of the closed caption data may be determined based on a user setting associated with a hearing impairment. Compensating audio comprising a frequency translation associated with at least the portion of the closed caption data may be generated. The content asset may be caused to be output with audio content comprising the compensating audio and the original audio.

In one embodiment, a wireless transceiver is located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes a television input, television output, a processor, and memory.
