This application provides a method for method for television (TV) remote keypress response based on Android operating system (OS) and a TV thereof, and includes: creating a first process when the Android OS is being initialized; executing the first process to obtain a key value of a remote keypress event; and performing a remote keypress operation according to the key value. The method creates and executes the first process during the initialization of the Android OS, thereby realizing responding to remote keypress during TV start-up, greatly enhancing user experience.

Method of managing media libraries, corresponding system and computer program product

In accordance with an embodiment, a method of managing an automotive infotainment media library, in which media content files sourced from a set of source devices, and the media content files are accessible via respective playback paths by at least one media player application having a plurality of configurations, includes: parsing the media content files in the media library to create at least one indexed table including a respective list of identifiers associated to media content files, wherein the media content files are parsed as a function of at least one of a source device in the set of source devices, as a function of a configuration in the plurality of configurations of the at least one media player application, or as a function of folders grouping the media content files in the media library.

Distributed system architecture for control of a set top box

A distributed system architecture is described for control of a Set Top Box (STB). The architecture employs server software implemented as JSON middleware, and provided on the STB 32 as a local server, as well as on a Tooling Device 34 and a Control Application 36. The distributed system facilitates communication with the STB over a data network such as the internet. A remote client device running a browser 30 can interact with the STB 32 to access STB functionality 32.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING SWITCHING FROM A CHANNEL DURING AN ADVERTISEMENT DISPLAY

An apparatus and method is disclosed for preventing a viewer from switching from a channel when an advertisement is being displayed on the channel. The apparatus and method comprises an advertisement controller in a video playback device that (1) prevents a viewer of a direct (non-recorded) broadcast from switching channels when an advertisement is displayed, and (2) prevents a viewer of a recorded program from fast forwarding the recorded program in order to skip past advertisements that were recorded with the program. A viewer may either watch the advertisements or pay a fee in order to be able to change channels or fast forward when the advertisements are being displayed.

DYNAMIC SPLASH SCREEN DURING AN APPLICATION LAUNCH SEQUENCE FOR MEDIA STREAMING DEVICES

Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for display dynamic splash screens using a media device during a launch sequence of an application without interrupting or delaying processing of the launch sequence. A launch sequence may be considered to include operations for compiling code associated with the application and operations for displaying splash screens. An example embodiment operates by the media device launching the application responsive to receiving a request and while code for the application is being compiled, selecting and displaying a dynamic splash screen. Operations of compiling code and displaying the splash screen may be performed under the control of the media device operating system and control is passed from the operating system to the application after launch sequence is completed.

REAL-TIME CONTROL INTERFACE FOR BROADCAST OBJECT STREAMING
20170331666 · 2017-11-16 ·

A device for encoding and sending media data includes a scheduler unit that schedules transmission of media data, a media encoder, and a transmitter that transmits according to a schedule formed by the scheduler unit. The scheduler unit sends a first set of data to the media encoder representing a number of media segments of the media data to be broadcast and a time at which the media data must be available for delivery at the transmitter of the media broadcast device. The media encoder sends a second set of data representing a first number of estimated encoding bytes for the media data to the media encoder. The scheduler unit sends, to the transmitter, the number of media segments including respective portions of the encoded media data at or before the time at which the media data must be available for delivery at the transmitter.

RECEPTION DEVICE, TRANSMISSION DEVICE, AND DATA PROCESSING METHOD

Provided are a device and a method which are capable of realizing an efficient search of metadata such as access information corresponding to acquisition-scheduled data in a reception device. A reception device receives a token which is auxiliary search information for efficiently searching for metadata such as access information related to acquisition-scheduled data of the reception device and performs a search process using the token. The token includes a service worker (SW) search scope token capable of limiting a search scope of access information corresponding to data serving as a management target of a specific service worker (SW) which is a data management program and a service worker (SW) cache scope token indicating that access information corresponding to data serving as a management target of a service worker (SW) is collectively recorded.

IPTV SESSION MANAGEMENT
20170251239 · 2017-08-31 ·

A session management involves registering at least one IPTV application in a registration table so that the registration table includes at least a respective identifier of the IPTV applications. The IPTV applications are invokable at a set top box and can be so-called embedded applications and/or browser-based applications. An event requiring the invocation of an IPTV application at the set top box is detected and triggers a look-up in the registration table. The registration table is thus used as source to indicate those IPTV applications that are potentially available and can be launched at the set top box. One of the registered applications is launched for the purpose of handling the detected event.
