Methods and systems for dynamic content modification
An example method can comprise receiving content for presentation at a user device. The content can comprise a plurality of sections, and each section can comprise a video portion and an audio portion. The user device can also receive content metadata regarding one or more features of the content, where the features of the content comprise one or more candidate sections of the content for modification. The user device can apply one or more rules to the received content based on the content metadata to modify one or more of the audio portion and the video portion of at least one section of the content, creating modified content, and can cause presentation of the modified content on a display device.
Methods and systems for dynamic media content
Methods and systems are provided for presenting media content capable of being dynamically adapted. One method involves analyzing content of a media program to identify a replaceable object at a spatial location within the content at a temporal location within the content, analyzing the spatial location of the content corresponding to the replaceable object within the content to identify one or more attributes of the replaceable object, identifying a substitute object based at least in part on the one or more attributes associated with the replaceable object, augmenting the temporal location of the content to include the substitute object at the spatial location within the content in lieu of the replaceable object, and providing the augmented version of the content to a media player for presentation.
Systems and methods for determining whether to adjust volumes of individual audio components in a media asset based on a type of a segment of the media asset
Systems and methods are provided herein for determining whether to adjust volumes of individual audio components in a media asset based on a type of segment of the media asset that is playing back. A media guidance application may determine that a user is playing back a segment of a media asset. The media guidance application may determine a type corresponding to the segment. The media guidance application may parse a plurality of audio components of the media asset that are playing back during the segment. The media guidance application may determine, for each audio component, whether to adjust the volume playing back during the segment based on the type. For each audio component of the plurality of audio components, in response to determining to adjust the volume, the media guidance application may adjust the volume of the audio component playing back during the segment.

REAL-TIME CONTENT FILTERING AND REPLACEMENT
Methods, systems, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a method for augmenting video streams. A video stream is received. Prior to presentation on a device, the video stream is processed to identify objects to be replaced in the video stream. A profile associated with a user who will view the video stream is identified. Preferences of the user are determined regarding subject matter embodied in objects that preferably be included or excluded from video. A determination is made whether the video stream includes first objects that embody subject matter that preferably should be excluded from presentation. If the user has indicated a replacement preference, replacement content is inserted in the video stream associated with the first objects. If the user has indicated an alteration preference for altering content, first objects are altered in accordance with the alteration preference. The updated video stream is provided.
Filtering and parental control methods for restricting visual activity on a head mounted display
A method for executing computer instructions for presenting an interactive environment in a head-mounted display (HMD) is described. The method includes identifying content associated with the interactive environment to be presented on the HMD for a user and determining whether an interactive object within the identified content satisfies a threshold for presentation to the user. The method includes augmenting the interactive object with augmentation data. The augmented data acts to change a characteristic of the interactive object. The operation of augmenting the interactive object is performed after determining that the interactive object does not satisfy the threshold for presentation to the user. The augmentation data modifies the interactive object to conform the interactive object to be within the threshold.
Media player configured to receive playback filters from alternative storage mediums
A media player configured with a first removable memory reader, such as a DVD drive, and a second removable memory reader, such as a flash memory reader, adapted to communicate with a removable memory containing filter data. The media player is configured to allow filtered playback of a multimedia presentation, such as a movie. Filtered playbabk causes certain portions of the multimedia presentation to be skipped, muted, blurred, cropped, or otherwise modified to eliminate or reduce potentially objectionable scenes, language, or other content. The second memory reader provides a convenient medium for the loading of filter information, whether data files, executable program code, or the like, to local memory of the media player to employ during filtered playback. Alternatively, the filters may be accessed from the removable storage media during playback rather than loading to local memory.
Systems and methods for generating shadows for a media guidance application based on content
Systems and methods for generating shadows for a media guidance application are provided. A display of a media asset is generated that includes a media object with a shadow at an object shadow position. Object shadow information is stored corresponding to the shadow of the object and the object shadow position. In response to receiving a user request to access a media guidance application, a media guidance application display corresponding to the user request is selected. A guide shadow is generated based on the stored object shadow information and the media guidance application display. The guide shadow is combined with the media guidance application display for display to the user.
