An electronic program guide, EPG, comprises a first portion and a second portion. The first portion comprises a list of channels and, for each channel in the list, a list of scheduled audiovisual content. The second portion comprises a selection area or section and a first graphical element representing a time line. The selection section may be used to select scheduled audiovisual content according to a selection criterion. Second graphical elements that represent scheduled audio visual content resulting from the selection are then placed on the first graphical element. The relative position of the second graphical elements on the first graphical element is determined by chronological order.

The present disclosure relates to a display device that preferentially provides information preferred by a user and includes a display unit and a control unit configured to set a preferred item for a specific category, wherein the control unit preferentially displays the preferred item when displaying information related to the specific category by receiving a display command for the information related to the specific category.

Systems and methods for enhanced sports-related media content access and display are provided. A user may want a media asset to continue to be output while selecting another media asset. A system may display a first and second sport for selection by a user. Upon user selection of the first sport, first and second sub-categories are displayed. User selection of a first sub-category causes display of sporting events in the first sub-category.

The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a display apparatus and a signal transmission method for the display apparatus. The display apparatus can use a voice assistant application to send received user voice to a voice assistant server, so that the voice assistant server can parse the user voice to obtain a channel switch instruction. In response to the channel switch instruction sent from the voice assistant server, the display apparatus receives an audio and video signal transmitted by a channel corresponding to the channel switch instruction, and plays the audio and video signal.

Methods and apparatus for improving channel browsing experience for users by presenting an automatically appearing and automatically scrolling program guide are described. The methods and apparatus are well suited for use with remote control devices with limited numbers of input buttons, e.g., under five buttons, but can be used with remote controls with more buttons. The program guide can be used to allow access to a grid guide to users of hospital remotes or other remotes with limited input keys, e.g., an up down arrow and/or a power button. The method in some embodiments uses time spent on a channel in combination with user selection of an input key to determine an action to be taken, e.g., enter or display the program grid guide and/or select a channel and/or corresponding program being displayed in the grid guide.

In particular, the systems and methods provide users with information related to alternative recorded programming viewing opportunities for programs scheduled for recording by a user.

A master node in a multimedia content network includes a processor, a content interface coupled to the processor and configured to receive, from a media source, a multimedia stream including a multimedia program, a network interface coupled to the processor and configured to provide an interface to a broadband network, processor executable instructions for performing operations including: identifying a group of subordinate nodes available to analyze a multimedia program, assigning different analysis tasks for the multimedia program to the available subordinate nodes, receiving analysis results from the subordinate nodes; and modifying electronic programming guide information for the multimedia program based on the analysis results.

In some embodiments, an electronic device plays content that is provided by a channel in a unified media browsing application. In some embodiments, an electronic device presents information about subscribing to a channel based on content consumption activity of the user on the electronic device in accordance with some embodiments of the disclosure.
