METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MANAGING MEDIA SUBSCRIPTIONS
Methods and systems are described for a media guidance application that manages media subscriptions between a user and a content provider. In particular, the media guidance application may automatically identify subscription terms that are beneficial for both a user and for a content provider.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RECOMMENDING CONTENT USING PROGRESS BARS
During playback of a content item, a media signature corresponding to a first portion of the content item is identified. A number of media signatures representing portions of a plurality of other content items may have been previously identified and stored. Each stored media signature may also include an identifier of an associated content item and a timestamp corresponding to a position in the associated content item at which the signature is located. If it is determined that the identified media signature matches a stored media signature, a progress bar is generated for display comprising an identifier of the content item associated with the matching stored media signature, and a progress indicator corresponding to a timestamp associated with the stored media signature.
Dynamic adjustment of electronic program guide displays based on viewer preferences for minimizing navigation in VOD program selection
Items of video content offered for viewing on a video-on-demand (VOD) platform of a digital TV service provider are each assigned a respective title and hierarchical address corresponding to hierarchically-arranged categories and subcategories within which the title for the video content is to be categorized. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. The EPG dynamically adjust its display listings of each level of categories, subcategories, and titles in order to minimize the number of remote control keypresses needed for a viewer to navigate to a title of interest. In one basic form, the EPG display is reordered by listing more frequently visited categories or subcategories first, and other less frequently visited categories or subcategories lower on the listing or out-of-sight on another page of the display.
Systems and methods for providing recommendations based on short-media viewing profile and long-media viewing profile
Systems and methods are provided herein for providing recommendations to a user. A short-media viewing profile may be maintained for the user. The short-media viewing profile may be based on user's behavior while watching short-length media content. A long-media viewing profile may be maintained for the user. The long-media viewing profile may be based on user's behavior while watching long-length media content. In response to determining that the user is currently engaged in viewing short-length media content, a recommendation is provided to the user based on the short-media viewing profile. In response to determining that the user is currently engaged in viewing long-length media content, a recommendation is provided to the user based on the long-media viewing profile.
Methods and systems for pushing audiovisual playlist based on text-attentional convolutional neural network
In some embodiments, methods and systems for pushing audiovisual playlists based on a text-attentional convolutional neural network include a local voice interactive terminal, a dialog system server and a playlist recommendation engine, where the dialog system server and the playlist recommendation engine are respectively connected to the local voice interactive terminal. In some embodiments, the local voice interactive terminal includes a microphone array, a host computer connected to the microphone array, and a voice synthesis chip board connected to the microphone array. In some embodiments, the playlist recommendation engine obtains rating data based on a rating predictor constructed by the neural network; the host computer parses the data into recommended playlist information; and the voice terminal synthesizes the results and pushes them to a user in the form of voice.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MODIFYING A MEDIA CONTENT ITEM BASED ON USER REACTION
Systems and methods are described for modifying the content of a media content item. A a media content item is displayed on user equipment. A user reaction to one or more portions of the media content item is determined. The content of the media content item is modified based on the user reaction to one or more portions of the media content item.
Method and apparatus for delivery of media content
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method, including identifying recommended video clips for a user of a communication device according to a video viewing profile for the user and video subject matter information associated with a plurality of video clips, identifying an edge cloud server for facilitating network access by the communication device at a location, determining a reduced activity period for a data path between a video content server and the edge cloud server by comparing activity information for the data path and an activity threshold, directing the video content server to store the recommended video clips at the edge cloud server during the reduced activity period, and providing a listing of the recommended video clips to an application, where the communication device receives a video clip of the recommended video clips from the edge cloud server responsive to a selection of the video clip via the application. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Providing third party content information and third party content access via a primary service provider programming guide
Information about and access to available third party content are provided via a primary service provider programming guide. A primary service provider may allow its customers/subscribers to access third party content through the systems of the primary service provider upon selection of a given third party content item from the primary service provider programming guide. The third party content may be provided as a full screen overlay over content presently being displayed and viewed from the primary service provider, or the third party content may be provided via a picture-in-picture inset either on the full screen or inside the displayed programming guide. Third party content offered via the primary service provider programming guide may be based on a recommendation of content in view of preferences and profile information for the customer/subscriber.
Recent channels pre-calculation in video delivery
In some embodiments, a method receives a message that identifies an asset being viewed on a video service at a timestamp. The message is associated with a profile identifier and a plurality of messages are received for the profile identifier while using the video service. The method determines a channel identifier for a channel in which the asset is offered during the timestamp and determines whether a channel change occurred based on the channel identifier and a prior channel identifier determined from a prior message in the plurality of messages. When the channel change has occurred, the method stores the channel identifier and timestamp for the profile identifier in a data structure, wherein a list of channels is generated by querying the data structure to determine a set of channel identifiers and timestamps for the profile identifier.
PROGRAM GUIDE SYSTEM WITH VIDEO-ON-DEMAND BROWSING
An interactive television program guide system is provided in which a viewer may direct a television to simultaneously display a selected television program and a program guide display. A viewer may use the program guide display to browse available video-on-demand (VOD) while continuing to view a previously selected program in the background. The viewer may browse through video-on-demand programs on the program guide display using a variety of keys on a remote control unit. The viewer may direct the program guide to order a given video-on-demand program/and set a desired broadcast time for that program.
