METHOD FOR BROADCASTING DASH/HLS HYBRID MULTIMEDIA STREAMS
20230045170 · 2023-02-09 ·

A method for multicasting multimedia content to receivers, the method comprising: receiving, by a multicast middleware (MCMF) from a server (BMS), manifest files to access contents according to different adaptive bitrate streaming communication protocols, one of the manifest files being consistent with the MPEG-DASH protocol and describing media segments of a content, another of the manifest files being a master playlist consistent with the HLS protocol and defining locations where media playlists to access the media segments of the content are available; receiving, by the middleware from the server, the media segments of the content, transmitted in a multicast session, receiving, by the middleware from the server, the playlists, the received playlists referencing the media segments transmitted in the multicast session, and currently received by the middleware; and storing by the middleware the manifest files, the media segments and the playlists, to make them available to receivers (UD, UD1, UD2).

Method To Support ENTV Broadcast And Unicast Modes In UE
20230041665 · 2023-02-09 ·

Various aspects include methods for supporting Enhancement for Television (ENTV) service delivery to a user equipment (UE) in a fifth generation new radio (5G-NR) radio access network (RAN). Various aspects may include generating an ENTV capability message, the ENTV capability message indicating one or more ENTV parameters of the UE, and sending the ENTV capability message to a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) of the 5G-NR RAN. Various aspects may include receiving a ENTV capability message from the UE, the ENTV capability message indicating one or more ENTV parameters of the UE, determining one or more radio resource configurations for the UE based at least in part on the one or more ENTV parameters of the UE, and generating a configuration message indicating the one or more radio resource configurations for the UE, and sending the configuration message to the UE.

Peer-to-Peer Video Data Sharing
20180007430 · 2018-01-04 ·

A method includes storing multicast transmission data at a peer-to-peer server. The multicast transmission data indicates multicast groups to which network elements are joined. The method includes receiving, at the peer-to-peer server from a first network element, a request related to a previously sent data packet of media content. The method includes determining, at the peer-to-peer server, whether a second network element can be identified, where the second network element was joined to a multicast group associated with the media content when the previously sent data packet was sent. The method also includes, in response to identifying the second network element, sending information identifying the second network element from the peer-to-peer server to the first network element.

An apparatus, e.g. a wireless media access point, includes a transceiver, a non-transitory storage medium, and a processor operably coupled to the transceiver and the storage medium. The processor is configured by instructions stored on the storage medium to transmit a first multicast channel associated with a first group temporal key (GTK), and to simultaneously transmit a second multicast channel associated with a second GTK.

HETEROGENEOUS MEDIA SERVICES

Systems and methods adapted for providing heterogeneous media services in communication systems, such as using transport layer security deferral and/or medium redirect, are disclosed. In operation according to embodiments, heterogeneous media services may be facilitated by obtaining, by a hybrid broadcast receiver of a receiver device, a computer parsable object comprising information regarding content segment availability and access, wherein the hybrid broadcast receiver is adapted to obtain content via both broadcast and broadband connections for a streaming client of the receiver device. The hybrid broadcast receiver of embodiments may further operate to evaluate the computer parsable object for one or more content segment entries indicating transport layer security is to be invoked with respect to a connection used for obtaining one or more content segments and to overwrite the one or more content segment entries preventing the transport layer security from being invoked by the streaming client.

PROGRAM PLAYING METHOD AND APPARATUS
20230024313 · 2023-01-26 ·

In the field of communications technologies, disclosed are a program playing method and apparatus, to resolve problems of relatively high costs of an internet protocol television (IPTV) operator and relatively high costs for subscribing to and maintaining an IPTV service by a user. In the method, a communications device receives a program playing request message sent by using a first transmission protocol. The communications device determines a corresponding target program channel based on a media file identifier included in the program playing request message, and may send a data stream request message to an IPTV platform by using a second transmission protocol. The communications device may send, by using the first transmission protocol, a received data stream to a playing device for play.
