METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING SERVICES INFORMATION IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF BROADCASTING NETWORKS AND UNIT FOR PROCESSING SAID INFORMATION
A method for transmitting services information in a broadcasting network by at least one managing center towards a plurality of receivers includes exploring streams broadcasted by a DVB network and streams broadcasted by an IP network and extracting services information from these streams, completing an information table, situated at the highest level in a hierarchy of services information tables, included in the service information DVB-SI transmitted by the DVB network by services information related to the IP network, and transmitting the completed information table in the streams broadcasted by the DVB network towards the receivers having two switchable receiving modules, connected respectively to a DVB and an IP services broadcasting network. The receivers are able to activate the reception of digital data of a service, equivalent to the service currently received, with a second receiving module when receiving conditions of a first receiving module are degraded.
CONVERGENCE SUBLAYER FOR USE IN A WIRELESS BROADCASTING SYSTEM
A method of encapsulating data and a single frequency network configured to perform the method are disclosed. A content stream of data packets is received, and the data packets in the content stream are formatted in accordance with a first protocol. Information identifying a container size established for the content stream is received. The data packets formatted in accordance with the first protocol are fragmented and packed to form data units formatted in accordance with a second protocol, and the data units are sized based on the container size. The data units formatted in accordance with the second protocol are encapsulated to form second protocol data packets. The second protocol data packets are provided to a transmitter that is synchronized to one or more transmitters in a single frequency network so that each transmitter in the single frequency network broadcasts a same signal that includes the second protocol data packets.

A method of encapsulating data and a single frequency network configured to perform the method are disclosed. A content stream of data packets is received, and the data packets in the content stream are formatted in accordance with a first protocol. Information identifying a container size established for the content stream is received. The data packets formatted in accordance with the first protocol are fragmented and packed to form data units formatted in accordance with a second protocol, and the data units are sized based on the container size. The data units formatted in accordance with the second protocol are encapsulated to form second protocol data packets. The second protocol data packets are provided to a transmitter that is synchronized to one or more transmitters in a single frequency network so that each transmitter in the single frequency network broadcasts a same signal that includes the second protocol data packets.

A method for transmitting services information in a broadcasting network by at least one managing center towards a plurality of receivers connected on one hand to a digital data streams broadcasting network of DVB type and on the other hand to a digital data streams broadcasting network of IP type, said streams comprising content data of the services and additional information data on said services structured in tables adapted to the transmission protocol specific to each type of network. The method comprises the steps of exploring the streams broadcasted by the network of type DVB and the streams broadcasted by the network of type IP and extracting services information from these streams, completing an information table, situated at the highest level in the hierarchy of the services information tables, included in the service information DVB-SI transmitted by the DVB network by services information related to the IP network, and transmitting the completed information table in the streams broadcasted by the DVB network towards the receivers having two switchable receiving modules, connected respectively to a DVB and an IP services broadcasting network. A method and video device are disclosed for accessing information. In an embodiment of the present invention, part of data included in a title, being played, read from a storage medium or extracted from a broadcast signal is extracted and sent to a server over a network, and information corresponding to the part of the data (i.e., information related to the data and complete data of the data) is received from the server and played. Rather than the part of the data, information related to a position of the data, (e.g. a time point at which the playing of the data starts within the title or a radial position or a physical address at which the data is located in the storage medium) may be sent. The data may be data that forms audio, a frame-shaped video clip or a frame-shaped picture included in the title.

Methods provide mechanisms for efficiently delivering files over a broadcast system to mobile devices. Files for broadcast may be logically identified as belonging to a directory in a file system. A Broadcast Schedule Message may inform receiver devices of files that will be broadcast at a specified time, as well as describe the files. File may be transmitted in file delivery pipes, which may be of different bandwidth and data rates. Receiver devices configured according to the embodiments may make use of the broadcast schedule message to select files to be received based on the service or application with which the file is associated, and whether the file is new or an update to a previously received file. Receiver devices activate receiver circuitry to capture the files within their advertised broadcast window, and pass the files to be broadcast to applications or services requesting the files.

System and method for an improved, selective download of broadcast data
The invention relates to a system and method for improved, selective download of broadcast data. In particular the present invention relates to downloading of broadcast data effectively when disturbances occur during reception of an input signal comprising a data carousel. The invention introduces multiplication of content filters that are configured to download only a part of the data. An important feature is recognition when to reset content filters in order to resolve an issue. For the purposes of this invention, there is defined a linear address space. The important properties of this address space allow for consistent addressing without gaps and every address is greater by a single position with respect to the previous one. The address space starts with one address and ends with another one. Such chunk address space may be considered as predictable, because a synchronization can be caught by reading an address of currently broadcast section.
