An apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a communications interface to receive game data from an external data source and to receive video data from a plurality of video sources. The apparatus also includes a memory storage unit to store the game data and the video data. Furthermore, the apparatus includes an aggregator to select a video from the video data, wherein the video is associated with an event in the game data. The apparatus additionally includes a notification engine to generate a notification to be transmitted via the communications interface.

Methods for recognizing thumbnails may include operations of receiving an identification of a thumbnail source for content, receiving the thumbnail, computing a hash value for the thumbnail, and associating the hash value with the thumbnail. Operations for content characterization may include launching an image analysis application, selecting a top level category to apply to a thumbnail, providing the thumbnail to the image analysis application, applying the selected top level category to the thumbnail to determine if the thumbnail satisfies the top level category, if satisfied, associating the top level category with the thumbnail, and repeating the one or more of the above operations with respect to a second category. Operations may include receiving an identification of a node to receive a thumbnail, obtaining a node selected category, receiving a proposed thumbnail to provide to the node, and determining if the proposed thumbnail has been previously recognized and categorized.

Techniques are provided for performing radio frequency (RF) sensing to determine the viewing status of a television user. This can be used to determine user behavior during the playback of content (e.g., whether a user is watching the content), which can be used as a data point for determining the user's level of interest in the content. Using the status of the television user, embodiments can provide additional or alternative functionality, such as powering down and/or powering up the television. Furthermore, RF sensing may be performed by existing television hardware, such a Wi-Fi transceiver, and may therefore provide RF sensing functionality to a television with little or no added cost.

Customized highlight shows for sporting events, entertainment events, and/or the like, having a narrative component, are generated and presented. The events can be sporting events, entertainment events, and/or the like. For example, in the context of sporting events, a determination is made as to what types of sports, teams, leagues, players, plays, and/or the like are of interest to the user. A customized highlight show is then generated and presented, containing those specific portions of the sporting events that are likely to be of interest, arranged in a manner that is likely to be entertaining and interesting to the user and that presents a cohesive narrative.

Techniques where a computing device such as a smart phone can be leveraged to facilitate ratings data capture through a set top box (“STB”) associated with a content subscription service such as satellite television are described. In an exemplary embodiment, STB channel data can be communicated to the computing device via a personal area network (“PAN”) connection such as Bluetooth. The computing device in turn can forward the STB channel data to a remote server over a wide area network (“WAN”).

A method for monitoring and correcting playback performance for content player. The method includes detecting a content player request from a media player on a user device, the content player request corresponding to a content item request from a server, generating a playback identifier including data corresponding to the content item, detecting one or more playback events occurring during playback of the content by the content player, generating one or more playback packets including the playback identifier, a packet identifier, and the one or more playback events, and transmitting the one or more playback packets to a server.

A video playing control method includes obtaining a video playing policy, where the video playing policy determines information about a control algorithm used for video playing, determining according to the video playing policy, a target control algorithm used for video playing, downloading and playing a video by using the target control algorithm, collecting video playing quality indicator data in a process of downloading and playing the video, and uploading the quality indicator data to a server, to indicate the server to adjust the video playing policy based on the quality indicator data.

A display device and a method for controlling same are disclosed. The display device compares device information of an external electronic device stored in the display device with device information transmitted by the external electronic device, thereby being capable of accurately recognizing a change in the external electronic device communicatively connected with the display device in a state in which the display device is turned off.

Various aspects include methods for supporting Enhancement for Television (ENTV) service delivery to a user equipment (UE) in a fifth generation new radio (5G-NR) radio access network (RAN). Various aspects may include generating an ENTV capability message, the ENTV capability message indicating one or more ENTV parameters of the UE, and sending the ENTV capability message to a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) of the 5G-NR RAN. Various aspects may include receiving a ENTV capability message from the UE, the ENTV capability message indicating one or more ENTV parameters of the UE, determining one or more radio resource configurations for the UE based at least in part on the one or more ENTV parameters of the UE, and generating a configuration message indicating the one or more radio resource configurations for the UE, and sending the configuration message to the UE.

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to reduce false crediting of exposure to video-on-demand media assets. Example apparatus disclosed herein include a signature matcher to compare a sequence of monitored media signatures to sequences of reference signatures representative of corresponding reference media assets, the sequence of monitored media signatures included in monitoring data reported by a media device meter, the sequences of reference signature stored in a library of reference signatures. Disclosed example apparatus also include a matched assets counter to determine a count of ones of the reference media assets represented by corresponding ones of the sequences of reference signatures determined to match the sequence of monitored media signatures. Disclosed examples further include a credit determiner to determine whether to credit media exposure to a first one of the reference media assets based on the count.
