This disclosure relates generally to method and system for live video streaming with integrated encoding and transmission semantics. The system receives a set of frames associated with a live video stream encoded to generate a set of data fragments using a reference encoder and a delta encoder. Transmitter unit of the live video streaming protocol transmits each packet of the set of full frames and the set of delta frames in sequence with a payload specific header based on a packet mode. Further, the receiver unit receives each packet of the full frames and each packet of the delta frames based on the packet mode to reconstruct an original sequence from the foreground pixels by estimating a total number of packets expected at each frame interval and loss incurred in each packet of the set of full frames and the set of delta frames.

A television receiver may present live television programming along with a sports gaming interface that indicates various betting options that are selectable by a television viewer via a remote control. The television receiver may receive a selection of a betting option presented in the sports gaming interface. A request may then be sent to a mobile device of the television viewer. The television receiver may in response to the selection, transmit a bet identifier of the selected betting option and an account identifier to the television service provider system. After a user has funded the bet and completed the transaction via a mobile device, the sports gaming interface may indicate the active bet.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system of a media server determines a number of media content playout periods in a media program to be presented at a client device, obtains a media content item for presentation during a playout period, and transmits the media content item for storage in a client device cache prior to presentation of the media program. The method also includes transmitting to the client device a time stamp associated with the transmitting of the media content item, and transmitting an instruction to the client device to perform buffering of streaming media during the playout period. The client device also transmits a first message indicating that the transmitting of the media content item has been performed, and a second message indicating that the presenting of the media content item has been completed. The method includes: A transmit end obtains a first frame of image of the video data, where the first frame of image includes a plurality of sub-images, and the plurality sub-images include a first sub-image and a second sub-image; the transmit end performs layered encoding on the first sub-image to obtain a plurality of layers of bitstreams of the first sub-image; the transmit end sends the plurality of layers of bitstreams of the first sub-image to a receive end; the receive end decodes the plurality of layers of bitstreams of the first sub-image to obtain the first sub-image.
