Apparatus, systems and methods for content availability notification
11582521 · 2023-02-14 · ·

Systems and methods are operable to notify a user of content availability. An exemplary embodiment receives a content availability notification request that specifies at least one content of interest, searches current electronic program guide (EPG) information to identify the content of interest, determines that the information identifying the specified content of interest is unavailable based upon the search of the current EPG information, generates a content availability reminder that is associated with the specified content of interest, monitors a content database to determine an availability of the specified content of interest identified in the content availability reminder, determines that the specified content of interest is available when the monitored content database indicates availability of the specified content of interest, and generates a content availability reminder notification that indicates at least a title of the specified content of interest.

Systems and methods for providing video enhancement for sporting events
11558675 · 2023-01-17 · ·

Systems and methods for video presentation and analytics for a sporting event are disclosed. In one embodiment, the sporting event is an auto racing event. A server platform is provided to collect and analyze real-time raw data and historical raw data, and compare drivers/vehicles from a current auto racing event and/or a historical auto racing event. The server platform is operable to overlay a ghost driver/vehicle on the images of a driver/vehicle in the current auto racing event based on the comparison. The server platform also provides a GUI for displaying the current auto racing event with enhanced features.

INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE

Provided is an information processing device capable of operating in accessibility mode of guaranteeing browsing corresponding to disability or functional degeneration of a body of an operator. A source device checks whether each sink device is in accessibility mode at the time of connection, and determines whether or not metadata for supporting disability (for example, audios, videos, texts, vibration information, or the like) is added to the sink device in the accessibility mode at the time of transmission of original image/audio data. The source device changes a metadata transmission method in accordance with whether the accessibility mode of each sink device is turned on or off.

UNOBTRUSIVELY ENHANCING VIDEO CONTENT WITH EXTRINSIC DATA

The playback of video content upon a display is enhanced through the unobtrusive presentation of extrinsic data upon the same display. A video content feature is rendered on a display. A quantity of extrinsic data relevant to a current time in the video content feature is determined based at least in part on viewing history of a user. A graphical element presenting at least a portion of the extrinsic data is rendered on the display while the video content feature is also being rendered on the display.

Method and Apparatus For Selection of Content From A Stream of Data

A main stream contains successive content elements of video and/or audio information that encode video and/or audio information at a first data rate. A computation circuit (144) computes main fingerprints from the successive content elements. A reference stream is received having a second data rate lower than the first data rate. The reference stream defines a sequence of the reference fingerprints. A comparator unit (144) compares the main fingerprints with the reference fingerprints. The main stream is monitored for the presence of inserted content elements between original content elements, where the original content elements have main fingerprints that match successive reference fingerprints and the inserted content elements have main fingerprints that do not match reference fingerprints. Rendering of inserted content elements to be skipped. In an embodiment when more than one content element matches only one is rendered. In another embodiment matching is used to control zapping to or from the main stream. In another embodiment matching is used to control linking of separately received mark-up information such as subtitles to points in the main stream.

SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR DELIVERING DIGITAL VIDEO CONTENT BASED UPON EXCITEMENT DATA

Processes, systems and devices are described to enhance the television or other media viewing experience based upon excitement data that is associated with the program. Excitement data can be used to identify the most exciting portions of media programs, therefore allowing for improved identification of programs or portions of programs for viewing, streaming, recording or other purposes.

Methods and systems for generating a notification
11711584 · 2023-07-25 · ·

Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that alerts a user to the appearance of objects in media content that may be of interest to the user. For example, as media content progresses, the media guidance application may determine objects that may interest a user. The media guidance application may record the number of determined objects and present the number to the user as well as supplemental content associated with each object.

Providing synchronous content and supplemental experiences
11711231 · 2023-07-25 · ·

Methods, systems, computer readable media, and apparatuses for providing synchronous supplemental experiences are presented. According to one or more aspects, a video signal may be transmitted to a display device, and a sync signal may be transmitted to at least one other device. The sync signal may include an identifier of a program currently being displayed and a time value indicating a current point in time of the program. In at least one arrangement, the sync signal may cause the at least one other device to access content synchronization data; determine, based on the content synchronization data, that at least one supplemental experience corresponds to the identifier of the program and the time value; and present the at least one supplemental experience to a user.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MINIMIZING OBSTRUCTION OF A MEDIA ASSET BY AN OVERLAY BY PREDICTING A PATH OF MOVEMENT OF AN OBJECT OF INTEREST OF THE MEDIA ASSET AND AVOIDING PLACEMENT OF THE OVERLAY IN THE PATH OF MOVEMENT

Systems and methods are provided herein for minimizing obstruction of a media asset by an overlay by predicting a path of movement of an object of interest of the media asset and avoiding placement of the overlay in the path of movement. To this end, a media guidance application may detect an object of interest in a first frame of a media asset, and may determine a determining a first location of the object in the first frame and a second location of the object of interest in a second frame. The media guidance application may calculate, based on the first location and the second location, a projected location of the object of interest in a third frame of the media asset, and may generate for display an overlay in a location that does not overlap with any of the first location, the second location, and the projected location.

PRIVACY SYSTEM ARRANGEMENT

A method for distributing video content across a network, the method comprising: providing video data to a primary data source, associating control data with the video data, broadcasting the video data with associated control data from the primary data source to one or more user devices across the network, providing a media player on the respective user devices which is operable in response to reading the control data to create auxiliary data locally on the respective user devices while the media player is playing the video data, creating the auxiliary data locally on the respective user devices while the media player is playing the video data locally on the respective user devices. The control data defines one or more elements of the auxiliary data to be created by the media player including the elements of the auxiliary data which are to be retrieved from the primary data source and one or more secondary data sources.
