An image processing apparatus for editing an image by using content images different in image size for the same content image depending on applications includes a data acquiring unit configured to acquire content image data having a predetermined image size; an image processor configured to generate image data of an image size corresponding to each application based on the acquired content image data; and a data storage device configured to store the acquired image data and the generated image data.

An image processing apparatus for photographing a user includes a photographing device configured to photograph the user to generate a photographed image; a display device configured to display a selection screen that is a screen with which the user selects one of a plurality of trimming ranges, the trimming range being a range of trimming a part of the photographed image generated by the photographing device; an instruction receiving device configured to receive selection of the trimming range on the selection screen; and a trimming processor configured to perform a trimming process on the photographed image generated by the photographing device based on the trimming range selected with the instruction receiving device.

A system for providing an internet fax service has an engine to process a raw fax document, received for a user of the internet fax service, using digital character recognition to produce recognized text or an associated formatted text document. A conversion engine may convert the raw fax to native file format being one of a) word processor format, b) spreadsheet format, c) slide presentation format, or d) another format that can be read on a user interface. An internet server is to make the native file format document available to the user over an internet. A fax content processing unit is to perform keyword scanning of the recognized text, and then allows the user to search for stored faxes by keyword. Other embodiments are also described.

An example image forming device includes an image input unit to receive a plurality of original documents, and a processor to extract handwriting from the respective original documents to generate a printed layer and a handwritten layer for each of the respective original documents, and to reconfigure the printed layers and a plurality of handwritten layers sharing the printed layers as respective files.

An information processing apparatus, connectable with an image output apparatus, includes circuitry to receive image data of an image from a memory, acquire information of an image placement region of the image output apparatus, the image placement region being variable depending on a type of the image output apparatus, and the image is to be output on the image placement region of the image output apparatus, generate an output image by placing the image within the image placement region based on the image data of the image to be output, and the image placement region of the image output apparatus, and transmit the generated output image to the image output apparatus.

Cloud-based document management systems are disclosed that provide a direct link between a scanner and cloud storage. In embodiments, a document management system provides a web scanning application that is executable in a web browser. The application can initiate a scan from a scanner in communication with the web browser that is transmitted directly to a remote cloud storage location and indexed by the document management system without requiring storing a copy of the document local to the web browser. Other embodiments allow printing from the web browser directly to the document management system and remote cloud storage. In another aspect, a receipt printer buffer is provided that can provide electronic receipts that may be directly uploaded to the cloud--based document management system.

Cloud-based document management systems are disclosed that provide a direct link between a scanner and cloud storage. An electronic apparatus includes a storage device, an image reading device, and a controller. The controller detects, from a text included in an image of a document read by the image reading device, a first prescribed word, extracts a text portion of a predetermined length continuous before or after the first prescribed word detected, calculates, by keyword groups stored in the storage device, a number representing matching between the keyword belonging to a keyword group and a character string included in the text portion extracted, reads out from the storage device an address associated with the keyword group having a largest number in the number representing the matching, and creates an e-mail a destination address of which is the address read out.

An information processing device includes a retaining unit and an image display. The retaining unit retains image-formation-related information of an image forming apparatus that forms an image. The image display causes a display section of a portable terminal having the display section and an image capturing section to display an image for assisting with an operation of the image forming apparatus based on a captured image result of the image capturing section and the image-formation-related information retained in the retaining unit.

An information processing apparatus, connectable with an image output apparatus, includes circuitry to receive image data of an image from a memory, acquire information of an image placement region of the image output apparatus, the image placement region being variable depending on a type of the image output apparatus, and the image is to be output on the image placement region of the image output apparatus, generate an output image by placing the image within the image placement region based on the image data of the image to be output, and the image placement region of the image output apparatus, and transmit the generated output image to the image output apparatus.
