A reading device and an image forming apparatus are provided. The reading device includes an image reading device configured to read an image on a recording medium being conveyed, a background device serving as a background image when the image is read by the image reading device, and a foreign-object detector configured to compare a first read image obtained as the background device is read by the image reading device with a second read image obtained as the background device and the recording medium are read by the image reading device to detect an attached foreign object. The image forming apparatus includes the reading device and an image forming device.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body and a moveable unit. The apparatus body includes an image forming device and a restriction portion. The moveable unit includes an image reading device and is detachably attached to the apparatus body. The moveable unit is opened and closed with respect to the apparatus body by rotation about a rotation shaft when the moveable unit is attached to the apparatus body. The moveable unit is attached to and detached from the apparatus body by moving in an axial direction of the rotation shaft. The moveable unit further includes a restricted portion that engages with the restriction portion that restricts a movement of the moveable unit in the axial direction. The restriction portion or the restricted portion further includes a deformation portion having elasticity. The deformation portion is deformed so that the moveable unit is attached to and detached from the apparatus body.
MECHANISM FOR SUPPORTING A TRAVELING BODY
A mechanism for supporting a traveling body includes a traveling body which reciprocates and shifts, a track member extending in a direction in which the traveling body shifts, a track surface provided in the track member to slide the traveling body, a drive section that drives the traveling body, and a slide member provided in the traveling body to support the traveling body slidably via a lubricant between the track surface and the slide member. The slide member includes a slide contact portion that slides on the track surface, a slide barrier portion provided on at least one side of the slide contact portion along a slide direction of the slide contact portion, and a guide portion which scrapes the lubricant in association with sliding of the slide contact portion, and guides the lubricant to between the slide contact portion and the slide barrier portion.

A moving mechanism of a reading unit includes a driving pulley, a plurality of driven pulleys which are rotatably driven, an endless belt which is engaged and rotates between the driving pulley and the plurality of driven pulleys, and attracts the reading unit, and a biasing unit which applies tension to the endless belt, in the endless belt, an attraction section which is a belt section that extends along the auxiliary scanning direction, and which attracts the reading unit, is formed between a first driven pulley and a second driven pulley, the driving pulley is provided at a position separated from the attraction section in the main scanning direction, and a biasing force of the biasing unit is applied to the belt section excluding the attraction section in the endless belt.

The image forming apparatus includes the reading device and an image forming device.

An image reading apparatus incudes a guiding shaft extending in an axial direction; a reading portion supported by the shaft so as to be movable in the axial direction; a casing accommodating the reading portion, the casing including a first supporting portion supporting an end portion of the shaft and a second supporting portion supporting the other end portion of the shaft; and an elastically deformable bonding portion bonding the casing and the shaft with each other, the bonding portion being provided between the first supporting portion and the second supporting portion in the axial direction and between the casing and the shaft in a diametrical direction perpendicular to the axial direction. The shaft is supported by the first supporting portion, the second supporting portion and the bonding portion, without contact to the casing except for the first supporting portion and the second supporting portion.

The plurality of housing components (13a, 13b) are arranged to have a clearance therebetween and each of the plurality of housing components (13a, 13b) is fixed to the board (24) at a position to transmit light through the optical components to focus onto the corresponding imaging element (23).
