According to an embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a communicator, a storage, and a controller, in which the controller stores destination information received from a terminal device, via the communicator, in the storage, and erases the destination information from the storage in response to a trigger. In the image processing apparatus, the destination information is retained at least until a trigger input is made.

A read unit of a scanner device reads the information fixed to a medium by printing. A transmission control unit executes the control of transmitting, to a server, the information of the medium acquired in the form of digital image data. The present disclosure describes a system and method to manage image file storage that includes a memory device to store instructions and at least one processing device to execute the instructions stored in the memory device to determine a blur indication or a burst characteristic for each of a plurality of files stored on a storage medium, automatically identify candidate image files to delete based at least in part on the blur indication or the burst characteristic, and delete at least some of the candidate image files based on receiving a delete indication.

An image forming apparatus which can prevent from automatically deleting, without user's intention, a box document restored from another image forming apparatus. A document storage deadline is set with respect to a folder thereof for storing box documents so as to set, as a target to be deleted from the folder, a box document having been stored in the folder over the document storage deadline. When it is determined that one of the box documents stored in the folder is a restored document, the one of the box documents is controlled to be excluded from the target.

An information processing apparatus includes circuitry to, store, in a memory, received fax data as a stored document in a distribution destination folder corresponding to the fax data, in response to detection of a delete operation performed on the stored document, determine a state of the stored document to generate a first determination result, when the first determination result indicates that the stored document is in a read state, determine whether a period from a time at which the stored document was read to a time at which the delete operation was performed is within a preset period to generate a second determination result, and when the first determination result indicates that the stored document is in an unread state, or when the second determination result indicates that the period is within the preset period, copy the stored document to a specific folder and delete the stored document.

An information processing apparatus is provided, in which content and position information generated independently of each other are recorded in a recording medium. The apparatus includes a recording medium in which the content and the position information are recorded and a deletion unit deleting position information temporally associated with a piece of the content from the recording medium when the piece of content is deleted from the recording medium.

In a control method for a processing apparatus connected to an image reading apparatus, in a case where the processing apparatus receives a cancellation instruction while the image reading apparatus performs a reading step, the processing apparatus causes the image reading apparatus to terminate the reading step and deletes image data of a page being read, and in a case where the processing apparatus receives a cancellation instruction after the image reading apparatus has performed the reading step, the processing apparatus performs controlling processing for deleting image data that has been acquired in the last reading step and has yet to be stored.

This disclosure is directed to systems and methods for the delivery and maintenance of faxes where the faxes may remain at a faxing system for a minimal amount of time. The faxing system may send a queued fax to a connector responsive to a request from the connector to pull or retrieve a fax. The connector is configured to send a release notification to the faxing system after the fax is received. The faxing system is configured to delete the queued fax as soon as confirmation of the delivery of the fax can be determined or when an expiration time has elapsed.
