Systems and methods for sensor lens cleaning

A sensor lens assembly includes a cylindrical sensor body including a lower surface, a sensor lens surface, and a side surface extending between the lower surface and an outer edge of the sensor lens surface, a sensor enclosed within the cylindrical sensor body and adjacent to the sensor lens surface, and a nozzle configured to deliver a fluid near a center point of the sensor lens surface. The sensor lens surface is concave and rotates relative to the side surface of the cylindrical sensor body such that centrifugal force causes the fluid to form a film on the sensor lens surface that acts as a barrier, cushion, and particle collecting medium on the sensor lens surface.

The image signal processor is configured to obtain images corresponding to light from outside by using the image sensor, the images including at least a raw image, a first sub image, and a second sub image, the first sub image being an image corresponding to light detected by at least one first sub light, the second sub image being an image corresponding to light detected by at least one second sub light, identify a luminance ratio between the first sub image and the second sub image, identify a defect in the raw image, based on the luminance ratio, and perform a function corresponding to a type of the defect.

Methods for controlling an apparatus adapted to clean a sensor assembly

A method for controlling a sensor assembly cleaning apparatus includes receiving sensor data from various vehicle sensors, determining a level of obscurement of the transparent surface, and determining whether the level of obscurement exceeds a threshold level. If the transparent surface is obscured beyond the threshold level, a control signal may be sent to the apparatus to initiate the ejection of pressurized air onto the transparent surface. Optionally, the method may further evaluate other parameters such as the vehicle velocity in relation to a threshold vehicle velocity prior to sending the control signal to ensure that the cleaning operation using pressurized air would not be superfluous in light of the vehicle velocity. In addition, a method for selectively activating the sensor assembly cleaning apparatus includes determining an activation schedule for the apparatus based on an arrangement of transparent surfaces and controlling the apparatus to operate based on the activation schedule.

Devices and methods for detecting and removing vapor

The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for detecting and removing vapor for an imaging acquisition device. A device for detecting and removing vapor may include a first light guide. The first light guide may include a first end to receive a light beam, and a second end to output the light beam at a predetermined angle with respect to a reference plane, so that when the light beam enters a target light transmission media from the first light guide, the light beam substantially perfectly reflects between a first surface and a second surface of the target light transmission media. The first surface and second surface may substantially parallel to the reference plane.

VALIDATION OF A CAMERA CLEANING SYSTEM

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for testing and validation of a camera. A device may capture a first image of a target using a camera, wherein the camera is in a clean state, and wherein the target is in a line of sight of the camera. The device may apply an obstruction to a portion of a lens of the camera. The device may apply a camera cleaning system to the lens of the camera. The device may capture a post-clean image after applying the camera cleaning system. The device may determine a post-clean SSIM score based on comparing the post clean image to the first image. The device may compare the post-clean SSIM score to a validation threshold. The device may determine a validation state of the camera cleaning system based on the comparison.

Sensor assembly cleaning apparatuses

Described herein are sensor assembly cleaning apparatuses and methods of operation thereof that utilize a fluid such as pressurized air to cause dispersion of debris, rain droplets/water droplets from other sources, condensation, or any other environmental contaminant that may obscure a transparent surface such as a glass window of a camera housing from the glass window. In this manner, the pressurized air acts to clean the transparent surface, and as a result, improve the clarity of the field-of-view provided through that transparent surface to a camera housed in the camera housing. In addition, sensor assembly cleaning apparatuses described herein can include a water nozzle that is adapted to eject high pressure water onto the transparent surface as well as towards an air nozzle or an air vent that is adapted to eject the pressurized air. The water nozzle can thus be used to remove debris form the air nozzle.
