11546558 · 2023-01-03 · ·

A method for displaying a video stream of a scene captured by a monitoring camera on a display of a remote client device comprises receiving, at the client device, the video stream and information indicating an on/off status for an IR-illuminator illuminating the scene; setting a display setting of the display differently based on upon the on/off status for the IR-illuminator; and displaying the video stream on the display using the display setting. The client device comprises a display, a receiver which receives a video stream from the monitoring camera, and a control circuit. The control circuit executes an IR-illuminator status function to extract information indicating on/off status for the IR-illuminator illuminating the scene, a display setting function of the display differently upon the on/off status for the IR-illuminator, and a displaying function displays the video stream on the display using the setting set by the display setting function.

Use of hierarchical video and image coding for telepresence

A medical telepresence system comprising: an interface to receive a plurality of data feeds from a live medical procedure, at least one data feed comprising a video signal capturing the live medical procedure; a hierarchical encoder to encode the plurality of data feeds using a first tier-based hierarchical data coding scheme, wherein encoded data from the hierarchical encoder is decodable by a first set of computing devices for viewing, the first set of computing devices being communicatively coupled to the hierarchical encoder using a first network connection; a transcoder to convert from the first tier-based hierarchical data coding scheme to a second tier-based hierarchical data coding scheme, wherein encoded data from the transcoder is receivable by a second set of computing devices for viewing, the second set of computing devices being communicatively coupled to the transcoder using a second network connection, the second network connection being of a lower quality than the first network connection; and a recorder to store the output of the hierarchical encoder as a set of tier-based files for later retrieval, wherein each of the set of tier-based files represent different levels of quality.

Content Stream Having Encoded Metadata for Video Enhancement

A system for providing default content enhanced with supplemental content includes processing hardware and a memory storing a software code. The processing hardware executes the software code to receive a content stream including multiple video frames, a first video frame of the multiple video frames including first default content, first supplemental content, and first encoded metadata, and to decode the first encoded metadata of the first video frame to produce first decoded metadata. The processing hardware further executes the software code to select, using the first decoded metadata, at least a first portion of the first supplemental content for use in enhancing the first default content, transfer, using the first decoded metadata, the selected first portion of the first supplemental content to one or more predetermined locations in the first default content to produce an enhanced first video content, and output the enhanced first video content to a display device.

Targeting content based on location

Assets of broadcast network content are targeted to network users of interest based on location information regarding user equipment devices. Asset providers can specify location targeting criteria via a graphical user interface displaying mapping information. This location targeting criteria can then be compared to location information regarding user equipment devices so that assets are delivered to appropriate devices. The comparison of the location targeting criteria to the device location information can be performed at the user equipment devices or at another location. In the latter case, the assets can be addressed to appropriate user equipment devices or appropriate user equipment devices can be directed to select the asset, which is broadcast via the network. In this manner, assets can be targeted to individual network users on a basis independent of network topology.

Systems and methods for modifying date-related references of a media asset to reflect absolute dates

A media asset may include date-related information. When viewed out of context it may be unclear what date is referenced by the date-related information. The media asset may be parsed to identify the date-related information within the media asset. The media asset may be analyzed to determine the context for the date related information. An absolute date may be determined based on this context and the date-related information and provided to the user with the media asset.

Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for switching the output of an overriding multimedia device from a first input to a second input or a combination of the first input and the second input. An example embodiment operates by receiving sensor data detected by a sensing device and relating to a multimedia switching event. The example embodiment further operates by determining that sensor data detected by a sensing device corresponds to a multimedia switching action. In response, the example embodiment operates by generating a multimedia switching actuation signal that instructs an overriding multimedia device to switch its output from the first multimedia signal to the second multimedia signal. Subsequently, the example embodiment operates by transmitting the multimedia switching actuation signal to the overriding multimedia device.

Addressable measurement framework

Example methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to implement an addressable measurement framework are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein perform a common homes analysis of provider data and panel data to determine a coverage footprint associated with the provider data, the provider data including at least one of return path data reported by a plurality of set-top boxes or automatic content recognition data reported by a plurality of smart media devices, and the panel data reported by media device meters. Disclosed example apparatus also weight a portion of the provider data based on the common homes analysis, weight a portion of the panel data based on the common homes analysis, and calculate an addressable advertisement rating based on the weighted portion of the provider data and the weighted portion of the panel data.

A transport framework for heterogeneous data streams includes session management module and a connection management module. The session management module is configured to receive a request to establish a first stream that is used for transmitting or receiving data, where the request includes an express indication as to whether the first stream is reliable or unreliable; construct a first data frame based on application data; handoff the first data frame to the connection management module; and maintain a record for the first data frame that includes whether the first data frame is successfully transmitted to the receiver. The connection management module is configured to receive the first data frame of the first stream from the session management module; receive a second frame from the session management module; encapsulate the first data frame and the second frame in a packet; and transmit the packet to the receiver using an unreliable protocol.
