Dynamic adjustment of electronic program guide displays based on viewer preferences for minimizing navigation in VOD program selection
Items of video content offered for viewing on a video-on-demand (VOD) platform of a digital TV service provider are each assigned a respective title and hierarchical address corresponding to hierarchically-arranged categories and subcategories within which the title for the video content is to be categorized. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. The EPG dynamically adjust its display listings of each level of categories, subcategories, and titles in order to minimize the number of remote control keypresses needed for a viewer to navigate to a title of interest. In one basic form, the EPG display is reordered by listing more frequently visited categories or subcategories first, and other less frequently visited categories or subcategories lower on the listing or out-of-sight on another page of the display.
Method and apparatus for transmission and reception of wireless data
Systems and processes are provided for receiving a request for an audio video program from a display device, transmitting the request for the audio video program via a bidirectional network, receiving the audio video program via the bidirectional network wherein the audio video program is received at a first data rate, transmitting an alternate request for the audio video program via the bidirectional network wherein the alternate request for the audio video program includes are request for the audio video program to be transmitted via a unidirectional wireless transmission, receiving the audio video program via the unidirectional wireless transmission, and transmitting the audio video program to the display device.
Methods and apparatuses for combining and distributing user enhanced video/audio content
Methods and apparatuses are provided, which may be implemented to combine and distribute user enhanced video and/or audio content.
Methods and apparatus for wireless device attachment in a managed network architecture
Methods and apparatus for enhancing connectivity for a device backhauled by a wireline communication network. In one embodiment, the device comprises a small-cell or other wireless base station that is backhauled by a DOCSIS system within a managed HFC network, and the method and apparatus enable enhanced connection of user devices serviced by the base station (such as 3GPP UE or CBRS FWA) to a core entity for e.g., authentication and packet session establishment. In one implementation, enhanced Cable Termination System (CMTS) and cable modem (CM) devices coordinate to allocate prioritized service flows to traffic sourced from the base station. These service flows can selectively bypass extant DOCSIS protocols which might otherwise increase connection latency (including connection failure) such as AQM (active queue management) and packet dropping algorithms. In some variants, upstream service flow data rates can also be enhanced through temporary utilization of higher-order modulation and/or coding schemes.
GROUP CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT AMONG ELECTRONIC DEVICES
In a method of group control and management among electronic devices, wherein the electronic devices is in communication with a control device, a projectable space instance is provided for the control device to create a workspace, wherein a control and management tool and a plurality of unified tools for driving respective electronic devices are selectively added to the projectable space instance. The projectable space instance is then parsed with a projector by the control device to automatically generate a projected workspace corresponding to the workspace to be created via the projectable space instance. The control and management tool realizes at least one status information of at least a first one of the electronic devices by way of the unified tools, and controls at least a second one of the electronic devices to execute at least one task corresponding to the at least one status information.

Transmission device, reception device, transmission system, and transmission method
The present technology relates to a transmission device, a reception device, a transmission system, and a transmission method capable of improving transmission efficiency of subdata added to main data. A transmission device includes a frame sequence number setting unit that, on the basis of a frame number indicating an order of a subframe in a main frame, assigns to the subframe a frame sequence number indicating an order of the subframe in a frame sequence including a plurality of the subframes, and a multiplexing unit that arranges a data packet at a predetermined position in the subframe on the basis of the frame sequence number. The present technology can be applied to a CCU, for example.
Systems and methods for recording programs using a network recording device as supplemental storage
Systems and methods for recording programs using a user's equipment and a network recording device are provided. An interactive television application may determine whether the user's equipment has sufficient resources (e.g., tuners or space) to record a program selected for recording. If the interactive television application determines that the user's equipment does not have sufficient resources, the interactive television application may select, automatically or in response to a user instruction, the program for recording with a network recording device. In some embodiments, the user may have to pay for the use of the network recording device, or may be required to purchase a given tier level of service. The interactive television application may play back programs from the network recording device as VOD offerings, or may direct the network recording device to transfer recorded programs to the user's equipment when it has sufficient resources.
Method and device for adjusting bit rate during live streaming
The present disclosure relates to a method and device for adjusting a bit rate during live streaming. In the method for adjusting the bit rate during live streaming includes: a parameter of a network used by an anchor terminal for transmitting live streaming data is acquired, an adjustment range of the bit rate for uploading the live streaming data is determined based on the parameter of the network used by the anchor terminal for transmitting the live streaming data, and the bit rate for uploading the live streaming data by the anchor terminal is adjusted based on a determined adjustment range.
Media content search results ranked by popularity
Media content search results ranked by popularity is described. In embodiment(s), a search request for television media content can be initiated by a viewer, and television media content that is relevant to the search request can be identified. The relevant television media content can then be ranked based on a popularity rating and the relevant television media content can be displayed in an ordered list that is ordered by popularity rankings.
