Systems and methods for recording programs using a network recording device as supplemental storage
11558594 · 2023-01-17 · ·

Systems and methods for recording programs using a user's equipment and a network recording device are provided. An interactive television application may determine whether the user's equipment has sufficient resources (e.g., tuners or space) to record a program selected for recording. If the interactive television application determines that the user's equipment does not have sufficient resources, the interactive television application may select, automatically or in response to a user instruction, the program for recording with a network recording device. In some embodiments, the user may have to pay for the use of the network recording device, or may be required to purchase a given tier level of service. The interactive television application may play back programs from the network recording device as VOD offerings, or may direct the network recording device to transfer recorded programs to the user's equipment when it has sufficient resources.

Synchronizing playback by media playback devices

Example systems, apparatus, and methods receive audio information including a plurality of frames from a source device, wherein each frame of the plurality of frames includes one or more audio samples and a time stamp indicating when to play the one or more audio samples of the respective frame. In an example, the time stamp is updated for each of the plurality of frames using a time differential value determined between clock information received from the source device and clock information associated with the device. The updated time stamp is stored for each of the plurality of frames, and the audio information is output based on the plurality of frames and associated updated time stamps. A number of samples per frame to be output is adjusted based on a comparison between the updated time stamp for the frame and a predicted time value for play back of the frame.

Image capture method and systems to preserve apparent contrast of an image

Methods and systems are described for processing an image captured with an image sensor, such as a camera. In one embodiment, an estimated ambient light level of the captured image is determined and used to compute an optical-optical transfer function (OOTF) that is used to correct the image to preserve an apparent contrast of the image under the estimated ambient light level in a viewing environment. The estimated ambient light level is determined by scaling pixel values from the image sensor using a function that includes exposure parameters and a camera specific parameter derived from a camera calibration.

An imaging device includes an imaging sensor that outputs an imaging signal representing a sequence of frame images of a photographic subject. A buffer memory temporarily stores data of the sequence of frame images from the imaging signal. A release switch is actuated by a user to output an image-taking signal. A controller, upon receipt of the image-taking signal from the release switch: (i) generates moving image data from at least some of the plurality of frame images stored in the buffer memory, (ii) generates at least one piece of still image data based on at least one frame image of the plurality of frame images stored in the buffer memory, and (iii) associates the moving image data with the still image data and records the moving image data and the still image data in a recording medium.

Methods for providing access to recordings of game play and generation of custom camera views of the game play

A computer-implemented method is provided. The method includes executing a game application on one or more servers of a data center. The game application is for a game and the game is played by a first user of a first client device remote to the data center. The one or more servers interfaced with one or more encoders for compressing interactive video from the game application responsive to input from the first client device and streaming of the interactive video in a compressed format to the first client device for decompression and rendering to a display of the first client device. The method includes storing, at the data center, a recording of at least part of the game played by the first user using the first client device. The method includes storing, at the data center, state data for at least part of the game played by the first user using the first client device. The method includes generating a replay of the recording responsive to input from a second user device. The replay is generated with a different camera view from a camera view in the recording. The replay is executed using as input the state data.

An image processor is provided. In some examples, the image processor is in a system on chip or part of a larger image processing system. The image processor may include an application processor, a codec module, and a memory controller, and in some examples may also function with a dithering unit, a display controller, a display, and/or a CMOS image sensor. The image processor processes, stores, and reads image data using an embedded memory and/or an external memory. The image data is comprised of a plurality of pixels, each of which may include a first and second set of bits that can be separately or simultaneously accessed at the memory in a first and second region of the memory using one or more addresses. The first set of bits may correspond to the more significant bits of each pixel and the second set of bits may correspond to the less significant bits. In some examples the number of bits in each of the first and second set of bits may be selected according to the width of a used data bus and/or features of a peripheral device connected to the image processor such as a display.
