MANAGING COMMUNICATIONS IN HETEROGENEOUS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS
An IP short message gateway (IP-SM-GW) utilizes multiple addresses for delivering short messages between an IP network and a cellular network. The IP short message gateway can have multiple SCCP addresses that correspond to categories of origin/destination IP addresses of short messages. In response to a request to deliver a short message between an IP network and a cellular network, the IP short message gateway identifies an IP address associated with the origin/destination of the short message. The IP short message gateway then identifies at least one of its multiple SCCP addresses based on the identified IP address. The IP short message gateway can generate a response message that includes the identified SCCP address. The identified SCCP address in the response message will be available to SMSC or IMS. SMSC or IMS can implement differentiated handling of short messages based on SCCP addresses received from the IP short message gateway.
SUBSCRIBERLESS DIFFERENTIATED ROUTING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A differentiated routing system includes a computer-executable system to receive a request from a first network gateway of a native network for establishing a communication service from a calling party terminal to a called party terminal. Upon receipt of the request, the system determines that policy information is not known for the calling party terminal that has originated the request, and therefore append a tag to the request in which the tag indicates that the requested communication service is to be established using one or more generic policies. The generic policies include one or more default policies to be used for establishing the communication service. The system then transmits the request to a routing device, wherein the routing device determines how the communication service is routed through the native network according to the one or more generic policies.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATICALLY PROVIDING ALTERNATE NETWORK ACCESS FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS
A communications unit is provided that can be coupled to a building's telecommunication wiring to provide an automated mechanism for isolating the building's wiring from a PSTN, while also providing a telecommunications connection to an alternative communications network via, for example, broadband or cellular networks. The communications unit can further be configured to be coupled to an alarm controller unit of a security system, thereby permitting the security system to communicate with a remote server system without loss of alarm data. The communications unit can also be configured to permit the legacy security system to provide normal disconnect functionality of building telephones from an outgoing telecommunications line while an alarm condition is present.
Method, system and apparatus for announcing caller information over a television link
A method, system and apparatus for announcing caller information to users over a television link. The method comprises receiving, via a portion of a data network adapted for handling Voice-over-IP (VoIP) calls, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signalling information associated with an incoming call destined for a destination party, the SIP signalling information comprising a portion conveying information regarding an origin of the incoming call and information regarding an identity of the destination party. The method further comprises attempting to establish a telephony link with a device associated with the destination party over a communication network in response to the receiving. The method further comprises releasing the portion of the SIP signalling information to a processing entity to cause delivery of an indication of the origin of the incoming call over a television link associated with the destination party, the indication based on the information regarding an origin of the incoming call.
Secure Gateway
Gateway device (100), adapted to couple a first network with a second network, comprising: a first network interface device (102) coupled by a first interface to a first network and having a second interface; a second network interface device (104) coupled by a first interface with the second network and having a second interface; a network coupling device (103) adapted to transmit in a first status no data from the second interface of the second network interface device (104) to the second interface of the first network interface device (102) on the physical layer and adapted to transmit in a second status data from the second interface of the first network interface device (102) to the second interface of the second network interface device (104); wherein said network coupling device (103) includes a switching device (126, 128) coupled to a conductor (130, 134) coupling the second interface of the first network interface device (102) and second network interface device (104); wherein the switching device (126, 128) is connected such to the conductor (130, 134) that the conductor can not transmit data in a first state of the switching device and that the conductor can transmit data in a second state of the switching device and wherein said switching device (126, 128) is controlled by a manual switch (127) operated by a user.
Systems and methods for communications node upgrade and selection
Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for intelligent node type selection in a telecommunications network. In one implementation, a customer set is obtained for a communications node in the telecommunications network. The customer set includes an existing customer set and a new customer set. A set of customer events is generated for a node type of the communications node using a simulator. The set of customer events is generated by simulating the customer set over time through a discrete event simulation. An impact of the customer events is modeled for the node type of the communications node. The node type is identified from a plurality of node types for a telecommunications build based on the impact of the customer events for the node type.
Methods, systems, and products for voice-over internet protocol calls
Network resources for a call are allocated. The network resources for the call are reserved based on a reservation. The network resources are reserved before any one network resource is committed. If the call is confirmed, then the network resources are committed.
System and method for enabling VPN-less session setup for connecting mobile data devices to an enterprise data network
A mobile application gateway configured to interconnect mobile communication devices on a cellular network with an enterprise network is provided. The mobile application gateway includes a voice and data signaling gateway configured to provide routing functionalities, service functionalities and admission control. A gateway GPRS support node (GGSN) is configured to establish a secure data session between one or more of the mobile communication devices and the enterprise network by establishing a GPRS tunneling protocol (GTP) tunnel between a carrier-hosted serving GPRS support node (SGSN) and the GGSN.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING ALTERNATE NETWORK ACCESS
Methods and systems for configuring communication at a premises are described. A network device at a premises may be configured to use a first communication mode and a second communication mode. The network device may receive data from a device located at the premises. The network device may transmit the data using the first communication mode or the second communication mode based on configuration data, which may be received from a computing device located external to the premises.
Clearing House Validation
In one embodiment, a network interface receives a communication request. A processor then verifies caller information in the communication request with a certification procedure. The processor obtains a first indicator based on the certification procedure. The first indicator includes information associated with a first certificate management procedure. The processor generates a second indicator based on the first indicator. The second indicator includes information associated with a second certificate management procedure.
