METHOD FOR DESIGNING A LINE ARRAY LOUDSPEAKER ARRANGEMENT
A method for designing a line array loudspeaker arrangement comprises providing a loudspeaker arrangement based on design start parameters and including at least a vertical front array and measuring the frequency responses of the loudspeaker arrangement with bypassed or omitted electronic filters at predefined horizontal angle increments. The method further comprises computing combined beam forming and crossover filter frequency responses for the vertical front array based on the measured frequency responses of the loudspeaker arrangement and first target frequency responses at various frequency points and various positions; and computing combined equalizing and crossover filter frequency responses for the vertical front array based on second target frequency responses, the combined equalizing and crossover filter frequency responses being configured to obtain acoustic linear phase responses of the loudspeaker arrangement.
Audio System
An audio system with a loudspeaker configured to create an audio output, a sensor configured to detect at least the presence of at least one person at a position relative to the loudspeaker, and a processor configured to cause the loudspeaker to alter the audio output based on the position of the at least one person relative to the loudspeaker. Altering of the audio output includes adjusting at least one of a volume, a time delay, an equalization, or a radiation pattern of the audio output.
LOUDSPEAKER CONTROL
There is provided a computer-implemented method of generating audio signals for an array of loudspeakers, the method comprising: receiving a plurality of input audio signals, wherein a respective one of the plurality of input audio signals is to be reproduced, by the array, at each of a plurality of control points in an acoustic environment, and wherein each of the plurality of control points is associated with a respective one of a plurality of loudspeaker groups; receiving an estimate of a position of each of the plurality of control points; assigning, using the received estimate of the position of each of the plurality of control points, each of the loudspeakers in the array to at least one of the plurality of loudspeaker groups, wherein the assigning of a particular loudspeaker to a particular loudspeaker group is based on a relative position of the particular loudspeaker with respect to one or more of the at least one control points associated with the particular loudspeaker group; and generating a respective output audio signal for each of the loudspeakers in the array by applying a set of filters to the plurality of input audio signals, the output audio signal for a particular loudspeaker being generated according to the at least one loudspeaker group to which the particular loudspeaker is assigned.
Transducer steering and configuration systems and methods using a local positioning system
Transducer steering and configuration systems and methods using a local positioning system are provided. The position and/or orientation of transducers, devices, and/or objects within a physical environment may be utilized to enable steering of lobes and nulls of the transducers, to create self-assembling arrays of the transducers, and to enable monitoring and configuration of the transducers, devices, and objects through an augmented reality interface. The transducers and devices may be more optimally configured which can result in better capture of sound, better reproduction of sound, improved system performance, and increased user satisfaction.
Systems and methods for providing augmented audio
A system for providing augmented spatialized audio in a vehicle, including a plurality of speakers disposed in a perimeter of a cabin of the vehicle; and a controller configured to receive a position signal indicative of the position of a first user's head in the vehicle and to output to a first binaural device, according to the first position signal, a first spatial audio signal, such that the first binaural device produces a first spatial acoustic signal perceived by the first user as originating from a first virtual source location within the vehicle cabin, wherein the first spatial audio signal comprises at least an upper range of a first content signal, wherein the controller is further configured to drive the plurality of speakers with a driving signal such that a first bass content of the first content signal is produced in the vehicle cabin.
Systems and methods for providing augmented audio
A system for providing augmented audio to users in a vehicle, comprising: a plurality of speakers disposed in a perimeter of a cabin of the vehicle; and a controller configured to receive a first audio signal and a second audio signal, to drive the plurality of speakers in accordance with a first array configuration such that a bass content of the first audio signal is produced in a first listening zone within the vehicle cabin, and to drive the plurality of speakers in accordance with a second array configuration such that a bass content of the second audio signal is produced in a first listening zone within the vehicle cabin, wherein in the first listening zone a magnitude of the first bass content is greater than a magnitude of the second bass content and in the second listening zone the magnitude of the second bass content is greater than the magnitude of the first bass content.
ARRAY AUGMENTATION FOR AUDIO PLAYBACK DEVICES
Systems and methods for providing augmented arrays for audio playback are disclosed. An example playback device includes a first transducer configured to output audio along a first acoustic axis and a second transducer configured to output audio along a second acoustic axis. The playback device is configured to receive a source stream of audio content including at least a first input channel and a second input channel. The device plays back first audio output via the first transducer based on the first input channel and directed along the first acoustic axis, and plays back second audio output via the second transducer based on the second input channel and directed along the second acoustic axis, wherein the second audio output at least partially cancels the first audio output along a first spatial region offset from the first acoustic axis.

The processor is configured to receive a first audio signal from an external electronic device, and output a first given frequency band, and output a second given frequency band, and provide a first signal by applying a filter capable of passing a band corresponding to the second given frequency band, and provide a second signal by applying a filter capable of passing a band corresponding to the first given frequency band, and provide a second audio signal corresponding to the external audio signal, and transmit the second audio signal to the external electronic device.

A weighted multichannel representation of the plurality of channels may be generated. A plurality of weights for each channel of the plurality of channels may be generated based upon, at least in part, the weighted multichannel representation of the plurality of channels. A single channel representation of the plurality of channels may be generated based upon, at least in part, the weighted multichannel representation of the plurality of channels and the plurality of weights generated for each channel of the plurality of channels.
Acoustic waveguides for multi-channel playback devices
Acoustic waveguides can be used to improve audio performance of playback devices, such as a soundbar. Such a playback device can include an elongated body defining an outer perimeter with a forward surface, an upper surface, and a rounded edge between the forward surface and the upper surface. An up-firing transducer is configured to direct sound along an axis that has a vertical oblique angle with respect to a forward axis. A waveguide in fluid communication with the up-firing transducer includes a sidewall extending circumferentially around the transducer, the sidewall having a first end adjacent the up-firing transducer and a second end adjacent the outer perimeter, such that an opening defined by the sidewall has a larger area at the second end than at the first end. A rear portion of the sidewall is more steeply angled with respect to the axis than a forward portion of the sidewall.
