ERROR CORRECTION OVERWRITE FOR AUDIO ARTIFACT REDUCTION
Audio communication methods, devices, and systems, are provided with error correction overwrite for audio artifact reduction. One illustrative low-latency audio streaming method includes: receiving packets of digital audio data; applying an error correction code decoder to obtain a data stream that includes error-corrected data samples; providing a correction-limited data stream by replacing any of the error-corrected data samples that are outliers; and converting the correction-limited data stream into an audio signal.
VIBRO-TACTILE DIRECTIONALITY IN BONE CONDUCTION DEVICES
A bone conduction device located at the deaf ear of a recipient suffering from single-sided deafness is configured to receive sound signals within a spatial region proximate to the deaf ear of the recipient. The bone conduction device is configured to generate and deliver, based on the sound signals received within the spatial region, sound vibrations to the recipient. The sound vibrations are configured to evoke perception of the received sound signals at a cochlea of a second ear of the recipient. The bone conduction device is also configured to generate and deliver tactile vibrations to the recipient contemporaneously with the sound vibrations. The tactile vibrations generate a vibro-tactile sensation proximate to the deaf ear of the recipient, but the vibro-tactile sensation is non-perceivable (not heard) at the cochlea of the second ear of the recipient
Hearing device and method of operating the hearing device
A hearing device, in particular hearing aid, contains a transmitter circuit for wireless signal transmission. The transmitter circuit contains an electrical resonant circuit having at least one controllable semiconductor switch, at least one capacitor and a transmitter coil. The at least one semiconductor switch is driven by a pulse phase modulator.
METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AN AUDIO SIGNAL, HEARING DEVICE AND HEARING DEVICE SYSTEM
An audio signal is transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver in a hearing device, particularly a hearing aid. A communication facility configured for transmitting and/or receiving the audio signal. A hearing device system has two hearing devices configured to transmit audio signals between the two hearing devices by way of their communication facilities in accordance with the method.
METHOD AND HEARING DEVICE FOR TRANSMITTING AN AUDIO SIGNAL FROM A TRANSMITTER TO A RECEIVER
A method transmits an audio signal from a transmitter to a receiver and a hearing device, particularly a hearing aid, contains a communication facility which is provided and configured for transmitting and/or receiving an audio signal according to the method. A hearing device system has two hearing devices and is provided and configured to transmit audio signals between the two hearing devices by their communication facilities according to the method.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FREQUENCY-SPECIFIC LOCALIZATION AND SPEECH COMPREHENSION ENHANCEMENT
An exemplary spatial enhancement system performs frequency- specific localization and speech comprehension enhancement. Specifically, the system receives an audio signal presented to a recipient of a hearing device, and generates, based on the audio signal, a first frequency signal and a second frequency signal. The first frequency signal includes a portion of the audio signal associated with a first frequency range, and the second frequency signal includes a portion of the audio signal associated with a second frequency range. Based on the first and second frequency signals, the system generates an output frequency signal that is associated with the first and second frequency ranges and that is configured for use by the hearing device in stimulating aural perception by the recipient. This generating of the output frequency signal includes processing the first frequency signal to apply a localization enhancement and processing the second frequency signal to apply a speech comprehension enhancement.
Binaural hearing system comprising frequency transition
A hearing system includes first and second hearing devices adapted for being located at first and second ears of a user, or for being fully or partially implanted in the head at the left and right ears of the user. The first hearing device includes a forward path having a1) an input transducer for converting a sound at the first hearing device to a first electric input signal including the sound; a processor for processing the first electric input signal, or a signal originating therefrom, and providing a first processed signal in dependence of a reduced hearing ability of the user at the first ear; an output unit adapted for providing stimuli perceivable as sound for the user at the first ear based on the first processed signal. The first hearing device further includes an analysis path having a first filter for filtering the first electric input signal and providing a first filtered signal in dependence of the reduced hearing ability of the user at the first ear; and transmitter circuitry configured to allow transmission of the first filtered signal to the second hearing device. The second hearing device includes receiver circuitry configured to allow reception of the first filtered signal from the first hearing device, and an output unit adapted for providing stimuli perceivable as sound for the user at the second ear based on the first filtered signal or a processed version thereof.
