The present disclosure relates to a binaural hearing aid system comprising hearing aids for placement at, or in, a user's left and right ear, the hearing aids each comprising a microphone arrangement, a wireless communications unit, a receiver, and a sound channel with a valve, which is movable from an open state to an closed state and from a closed state to an open state. The binaural hearing aid system further comprises a signal processing arrangement adapted for generating a beamformed signal based on microphone signals supplied by either or both of the microphone arrangement(s) and for applying the beamformed signal to either or both of the receiver(s), and a valve control arrangement configured to asymmetrically control the valves in each hearing aid by moving the valves into positions wherein one of the valves is opened more than the other.
Artificial Cochlea for Mechanical Processing of Sound
Described herein are bio-inspired acoustic bandpass sensors with a user-defined range of frequencies mimicking the geometric structure of a human's basilar membrane to capture infrasonic, sonic or ultrasonic waves per design with a target frequency range for a specific application and methods of making same.
Hearing aid device with integrated antenna
A hearing aid device configured to communicate wirelessly with an external device is disclosed. The hearing aid device comprises a housing with a microphone, an amplifier, where the hearing aid device comprises an antenna and either: a) a tube configured to deliver sound acoustically from a receiver in the housing to an ear mould or a dome or electrically to a receiver in an ear mould or a dome or b) a hook configured to deliver sound acoustically from a receiver in the housing to an ear mould or a dome. The antenna extends along at least a portion of the tube or the hook.
Methods, apparatus and systems for biometric processes
A method for masking an acoustic stimulus, comprising: detecting an event initiated by a user of a personal audio device, the event having an associated audio artefact; in response to detecting the event, applying the acoustic stimulus to the user's ear during a masking period in which the acoustic stimulus is masked in the user's hearing by the audio artefact; extracting, from a response signal of the user's ear to the acoustic stimulus, one or more features for use in a biometric process.
Systems and methods for processing audio based on changes in active speaker
System and methods for processing audio signals are disclosed. In one implementation, a system may comprise a wearable camera configured to capture images from an environment of a user; a microphone; and a processor. The processor may be configured to receive an audio signal representative of sounds captured by the microphone during a time period; and receive the images captured by the wearable camera. The processor may process the audio signal in a first mode based on audio data accumulated in a buffer prior to the time period; detect a change in the active speaker from the first individual to a second individual; and cease processing in the first mode and process the audio signal in a second mode that differs from the first mode.
Miniature speaker and speaker cabinet and hearing aid
A miniature speaker and speaker cabinet are provided, wherein the speaker is enclosed in an oblong capsule with a sound output opening at one end and leads passing from a speaker coil inside the capsule to connection points externally on the capsule, and where the cabinet encloses the capsule and at one end thereof comprise a lead input opening with leads passing there through to the connection points on the capsule, and where the cabinet further comprise a sound exit opening opposite the lead input opening, which is in fluid communication with the sound output opening of the capsule, wherein the cabinet has an internal space surpassing external measures of the capsule in all directions defining a gap between the capsule and cabinet wherein the thus defined gap is filled out with a hardening silicone.
HEARING DEVICE COMPRISING MODULAR ENGAGEMENT MEANS
A hearing device comprising a housing is disclosed. The housing is configured to provide for a modular type hearing device. Thus, the housing of the hearing device is configured to receive and be electrically connected to at least a sound guiding element configured to connect a speaker part to the housing of the hearing device, such that the interface between the hearing device housing and the sound guiding element is made generic and as a standard fit, providing the possibility of creating one or more different hearing aid solutions, from a generic housing construction.
