A method, performed by a hearing device of a hearing system comprising a hearing device system and an external device, the hearing device system comprising the hearing device and a user accessory device with a user application installed thereon is disclosed, the method comprising receiving, from the user accessory device, secure hearing system data, the secure hearing system data comprising a data type identifier; determining a data type of the secure hearing system data based on the data type identifier; determining hearing system data by applying a security scheme to the secure hearing system data based on the data type; and operating the hearing device according to the hearing system data.
Remote control of ear mounted audio devices
A remote controller for a sound delivery system such as hearing aids and headsets is shown and described. The remote controller has control buttons corresponding to control functions of the sound delivery system, a signal generator, a signal transmitter, and a power supply. The sound delivery system is worn on the head or ears, and includes speakers, sounding controlling elements, a signal receiver for communication with the remote controller, a power supply, and audible and/or visible beacons for implementing a locator function if misplaced or lost. The remote controller may be a stand alone, dedicated component physically separate from the sound delivery system, or alternatively, may be implemented as an application downloadable to a cellular telephone. The application causes manual controls corresponding to those of a hearing aid or stereophonic controls to appear on a screen of the cellular telephone.
Sensory-based environmental adaptation
Presented herein are techniques for monitoring the sensory outcome of a recipient of a sensory prosthesis in an ambient environment that includes one or more controllable network connected devices. The sensory outcome of the recipient in the environment is used to make operational changes to the one or more controllable network connected devices in order to create an improved environment for recipient.
Wireless Sound Tranmission System and Method
A method for providing sound to at least one user, in which audio signals are captured and transformed into audio data that is transmitted to at least one receiver unit; audio signals are generated from the received audio data and the hearing of the user(s) stimulated thereby; wherein the audio data is transmitted as audio data packets in separate slots of a TDMA frame structure, wherein the transmission unit and the receiver unit(s) are synchronized to form a wireless network, wherein each TDMA frame structure has at least one listening slot during which the synchronized network members do not transmit data and at least one network members listens, and wherein control data is transmitted from an external control device according to a sequence pattern selected according to the duration and periodicity of the listening slot(s) to be received by the at least one synchronized network member during said listening slot(s).
AUTOMATED SCANNING FOR HEARING AID PARAMETERS
A hearing aid system is provided that facilitates adjustment of signal processing parameters θ of the hearing aid system with minimum user intervention, wherein the hearing aid system is capable of calculating signal processing parameters θ for evaluation of the user when the user has entered an input, e.g. using a smartwatch, to this effect. The evaluation takes place for a certain time period and in the event that the user has entered a consent input indicating that he or she is pleased with the set θ of signal processing parameters under evaluation, the hearing aid system continues processing with those signal processing parameters; and if the user is not pleased with the signal processing parameters θ under evaluation, the hearing aid system calculates another set {circumflex over (θ)} of signal processing parameters for evaluation of the user.
HEARING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
There is provided a hearing assistance system, comprising an audio streaming device, a first hearing device for stimulating a first ear of a user, and a second hearing device for stimulating a second ear of the user, the audio streaming device comprising an audio input interface for receiving an input stereo audio signal, a unit for analyzing the input stereo audio signal in order to determine at least one azimuthal localization cue by comparing the two channels of the stereo signal, a unit for processing the input stereo audio signal in order to produce an output stereo audio signal, and a unit for supplying one channel of the output stereo audio signal to the first hearing device and for supplying the other channel of the output stereo audio signal to the second hearing device.
HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICE EAR-TO-EAR COMMUNICATION USING AN INTERMEDIATE DEVICE
Disclosed herein, among other things, are systems and methods for relaying wireless communication from ear-to-ear for hearing assistance devices using an intermediate device. One aspect of the present subject matter includes a method of using a first hearing assistance device in a first ear of a wearer to communicate with a second hearing assistance device in a second ear of the wearer using wireless communication, and determining whether quality of the communication between the devices has fallen below a programmable threshold such that communication can be improved by relaying the communication using an external intermediary device such as a smart phone. One method of determining the quality is to monitor a number of retransmissions that are used to maintain communication between the left and right devices.
MULTI-MODE RADIO FOR HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICES
The present disclosure relates to the wireless communication of information for a hearing assistance device including a multi-mode radio adapted to provide communications at different frequencies using frequency control. In applications of hearing aids, the processor is adapted to perform correction of sound for a hearing impaired user. In certain examples the present subject matter provides an inductive portion for inductive communications. In various applications the multi-mode radio can be used for long range and short range communications.
METHOD FOR ADAPTING A PLURALITY OF SIGNAL PROCESSING PARAMETERS OF A HEARING INSTRUMENT IN A HEARING SYSTEM
A method for adapting signal processing parameters of a hearing instrument of a hearing system. A number of acoustic indicators (IndA) for a temporary environmental situation of a user of the hearing instrument is ascertained from an input signal generated by a transducer. A first sensor ascertains a number of peripheral indicators (IndP) for the existing temporary environmental situation. Based on the acoustic and peripheral indicators (IndA, IndP) the system determines whether the existing temporary environmental situation falls into a known class of temporary environmental situations. If it does not, a new class is defined with the respective ascertained acoustic and peripheral indicator(s) (IndA, IndP), and the plurality of signal processing parameters are assigned a corresponding plurality of parameter values, according to which the first input signal is to be processed to form the output signal upon the future existence of a temporary environmental situation from the new class.
HEARING PROSTHESIS SYSTEM
A hearing prosthesis system may include a cochlear implant coupled to an electrode array and configured to be implanted within a patient; and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the cochlear implant which is configured to direct the cochlear implant to apply stimulation to a cochlea of the patient via the electrode array and to detect, via the electrode array, a neural response of the patient to hearing stimulation. The processing unit is further configured to generate a user interaction audio signal indicative of an interaction of the patient with the hearing prosthesis system and apply perceivable hearing stimulation to the patient according to the user interaction audio signal, and to record, via the electrode array and the cochlear implant, the neural response to said hearing stimulation according to the user interaction audio signal, thereby utilizing the user interaction audio signal as a test audio signal.
