Radio access technology (RAT) type usage differentiation for differential charging in 5G non-standalone (5G NSA) architecture deployments

A control plane function node may be used in a Fifth Generation (5G) Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture having Radio Access Network (RAN) level interworking between a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) RAN and a 5G New Radio (NR). The node obtains usage report data which are based on traffic of a user equipment (UE) via primary and secondary Radio Access Technologies (RATs). The node also obtains secondary RAT usage report data which are based on traffic of the UE via the secondary RAT. The node constructs a message which indicates a request for charging based on the usage report data and the secondary RAT usage report data. In constructing the message, the node populates, in association with a corresponding rating group and usage data of the UE, an identifier of a flow or bearer associated with secondary RAT usage, together with the secondary RAT usage report data.

Radio access network intelligent controller-based dynamic time division duplex communication in a radio communication network

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process or apparatus for receiving, by a processing system including a processor, cell traffic reports for cells of a radio communication network, performing a reconfiguration analysis to identify reconfiguration information to reconfigure the radio communication network according to changing network conditions, and communicating the reconfiguration information defining a new cell configuration for the cells of the radio communication network and communicating information defining a new reconfiguration time for the cells to substantially synchronously switch to communicating according to the reconfiguration information. The receiving the cell traffic reports, the performing the reconfiguration analysis and the communicating the reconfiguration information occur in substantially real time. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A method for accessing a gateway and an apparatus are disclosed, relate to the field of communication technologies, and are applied to a network system including a virtual broadband network gateway (vBNG), where the vBNG includes a control plane (CP) device and a plurality of user plane (UP) devices managed by the CP device, and the network system further includes a user plane steering function (USF) device. The method includes: The USF device obtains user information of a target terminal; the USF device determines a target UP device in the plurality of UP devices based on the user information and load of the plurality of UP devices; and the USF device indicates the target terminal to access the target UP device. Therefore, an appropriate UP device is selected for the target terminal in the network system including the vBNG, and load balancing between the plurality of UP devices is implemented.

Methods, apparatus, and systems that can be implemented to associate User Datagram Protocol (UDP) based connection identifiers with appropriate Quality of Service (QoS) flows are disclosed to enable Access Traffic Steering, Switching and Splitting functionality at lower layers and to allow accurate measurements of Round-Trip Time for all traffic on a session. In one example aspect, a wireless communication method includes determining, by one or more nodes in a core network for a session that comprises at least one QoS flow, at least two identifiers identifying two connections associated with the at least one QoS flow. The two connections are established according to a UDP based protocol. The method also includes establishing, by the one or more nodes in the core network, a mapping between the at least two connection identifiers and the at least one QoS flow.

The technology includes a method performed by a system of a telecommunications network to manage network traffic of a 5G network. The system can instantiate a security system to sort incoming or outgoing network traffic at a perimeter of the 5G network into multiple groups that are each uniquely associated with multiple traffic types and multiple security levels. The system can inspect segments of data included in the incoming network traffic and sort multiple portions of the network traffic into the groups based in part on the inspection of the segments of the data. The system can dynamically adjust an available bandwidth of the 5G network based on each load of each of the groups and dispatch the portions of the network traffic in accordance with a traffic type and a security level of each of the groups.
