Wireless Device Video Floor Control

A floor control for a video application operating on a wireless device employing a video bearer may be modified by a video application function (AF). A policy and charging rules function (PCRF) may receive from the video AF, a first request, in response to the modifying the floor control. The first request may comprise one or more quality of service (QoS) parameters indicating a QoS of the video bearer. The PCRF may decide one or more policy and charging control (PCC) provisions for the QoS provided for the video application. The PCRF may transmit to a policy charging enforcement function (PCEF), a second request comprising the one or more PCC provisions for the QoS. The PCEF may enforce the one or more PCC provisions for the QoS on a popularity of packet transmitted via the video bearer to the wireless device.

PARALLEL AND SEQUENTIAL EXECUTION OF AUTOMATED ONLINE CHARGING TEST PROCEDURES
20170353524 · 2017-12-07 ·

Systems and methods are described herein for performing automated testing of online charging systems associated with telecommunications networks. In some embodiments, the systems and methods utilize various components associated with an online charging system, such as an event mediator, to convert data associated with test cases to be simulated by the online charging system (e.g., data from spreadsheets) into various test requests actionable during the online charging system under when simulating the test cases.

A mobile digital telecommunication system, a computer-implemented method, and a computer readable medium having stored thereon a computer executable program code for processing of usage detail records (UDRs) is disclosed herein. The mobile digital cellular telecommunication system comprises a network component configured to generate the UDRs, a rating system and a billing system.

Mobile communication system and communication method

A mobile communication system which can transfer information on the number of packets counted up until then by a base station of a mobile source, to a base station of a mobile target, even when a terminal performs a handover. UE moves to a Target eNode B, but a Source eNode B decides to perform a handover, and the Source eNode B includes information on the number of packets counted up until then in a Handover Request message to the Target eNode B, so as to notify the Target eNode B. After receiving a Handover Confirm message from the UE, the Target eNode B includes information on the number of packets received from the Source eNode B in a Handover Complete message transmitted to a CN Node, so as to notify the CN Node.

DESTINATION SELECTION FOR AN OFFLINE CHARGING SYSTEM TO AVOID REVERSION
20170339544 · 2017-11-23 ·

Systems, methods, and software that distribute accounting requests to a plurality of Charging Data Functions (CDFs). One embodiment comprises a distributor unit that connects to the CDFs, which register their queues with the distributor unit. When receiving an accounting request (e.g., interim or stop) for a session, the distributor unit extracts an identifier from the accounting request indicating a destination queue previously selected for the session. When the destination queue is not accepting new sessions or ongoing sessions, the distributor unit identifies a prioritized list for the session, identifies a position of the destination queue in the prioritized list, searches the prioritized list for an alternate queue having a lower priority than the destination queue, and having a status indicating that the alternate queue is accepting new sessions. The distributor unit then selects the alternate queue as an alternate destination queue for the session.

SERVER APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD
20170331300 · 2017-11-16 ·

A server apparatus includes a communicator that communicates with a charging apparatus for a storage battery pack or an information terminal, and a controller. When the communicator acquires information indicating a status of the storage battery pack from the charging apparatus or the information terminal by a recommended deadline that is recommended to manage the status of the storage battery pack, compared to when the communicator does not acquire the information indicating the status of the storage battery pack by the recommended deadline, the controller makes an adjustment including at least one of discounting a usage fee for the storage battery pack, and increasing points which may be used to pay the usage fee by a user of the storage battery pack.

Management of subscriber identity modules

Management of subscriber identity modules is disclosed. A server apparatus manages, in addition to or instead of mobile network operators, by a service provider, subscriptions to wireless communication networks. The server apparatus maintains subscriber identity module-specific usage records. Each usage record comprises a quantity quantifying amount of data transferred with each subscriber identity module and a limit setting the maximum allowed amount of data transfer for each subscriber identity module. The server apparatus compares periodically the quantity in each usage record with the limit in the same usage record, and if the quantity in the usage record is within a predetermined margin of the limit in the same usage record, transmits, with the data communication interface, to the mobile apparatus, a command to limit data transfer speed of the subscriber identity module defined by the usage record.

Video over LTE data usage metering
09826380 · 2017-11-21 · ·

The techniques for metering Video over LTE (ViLTE) data usage may ensure data consumption by subscribers are in line with their recurring service plans. A request to establish a video bearer between a mobile telecommunication network and a user device for a multimedia call may be received at a policy engine of a mobile telecommunication network. Subsequently, information that indicates a connection type used by the user device to connect to the mobile telecommunication network may be retrieved from a gateway of the network. The video bearer for a video over wireless local area network call of the user device may be established without ViLTE data usage metering in response to the user device having a WLAN connection type. However, the video bearer for a ViLTE call may be established with ViLTE data usage metering in response to the user device having a LTE connection type.

Dynamic Distribution In An Offline Charging System
20170289784 · 2017-10-05 · ·

Systems and methods are provided for processing messages in an Offline Charging System (OFCS) of a communications services provider. A front-end distributor unit receives Diameter messages from a Charging Trigger Function (CTF) and distributes the Diameter messages to Charging Data Function (CDF) units of the OFCS. The distributor unit receives Diameter response messages from CDFs and calculates performance metrics based on the distributed messages and their responses. The distributor unit computes revised distribution weights used for distributing new Diameter messages for new Diameter sessions to the CDF units based on the measured metrics, thus adjusting the distribution pattern of the Diameter messages based on estimated workload conditions at the CDFs.
