Systems and methods of wireless communication of a paging signal are disclosed. According to some aspects of the disclosure, a sequence of a plurality of beam configurations may be selected for use in communicating a paging signal between a pair of wireless devices. Beam configurations can include beam configurations of different angular widths. Beam configurations may be iteratively used to attempt to successfully communicate the paging signal between the pair of wireless devices. Each iteration may use a beam configuration of a different angular width and/or a plurality of facing angles. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

User Equipment Paging Method and MME

A user equipment paging method and a mobility management entity (MME) in order to improve user equipment paging efficiency, where the method includes determining, by the MME before paging user equipment in an idle state, a base station last accessed by the user equipment, determining, by the MME, that the base station last accessed by the user equipment is in a non-overload state, and sending, by the MME, a paging message including an identifier of the user equipment to the base station last accessed by the user equipment.

Base station paging based on traffic content type

A system may be configured to receive traffic that is destined for a user device, determine a type of content associated with the traffic, determine, based on the type of content, a base station paging scheme, and locate the user device by using the base station paging scheme. In some implementations, a system may include a traffic content analyzer device to analyze header information of a data packet to identify a type of content of the data packet, and output a message that is based on the identified type of content; and a mobile management entity device to receive the message from the traffic content analyzer device, and locate an intended recipient of the data packet by paging one or more base stations using a paging scheme that is based on information in the message.

Paging extension for enhanced coverage global system for mobile (EC-GSM)

A radio access network (RAN) node, a wireless device and various methods are described herein for managing paging bandwidth. In one embodiment, the RAN node transmits a message (e.g., paging message, assignment message) to wireless devices, where the message comprises at least the following: (i) a page mode field which includes information indicating one or more coverage classes for which one or more paging messages were available for transmission during a time interval but were not transmitted to a plurality of wireless devices; and (ii) a used_downlink_coverage_class field which includes information indicating a coverage class associated with the transmitted message.

Method and apparatus for managing mobility of terminal in communication system

A method and apparatus for managing mobility of a terminal by a first base station in a communication system. The first base station assigns a first address to the terminal located in a cell managed by the first base station and establishes a session to an external server that communicates with the terminal using the first address. If the terminal moves to a cell managed by a second base station different from the first base station, the first base station determines whether information about a second address assigned to the terminal by the second base station is received within a predetermined time. Upon receiving the information about the second address within the predetermined time, the first base station transmits data received from the external server to the terminal through the second base station using the information about the second address.

Access network node, core network node, and paging method

Embodiments of the present invention disclose an access network node, a core network node, and a paging method, and relate to the communications field, so as to resolve a problem that an M2M service cannot be normally used because a network side cannot determine whether a coverage enhancement technology needs to be used in a paging process. A specific solution is as follows: A communications interface is configured to receive a first packet paging message sent by a core network node; a processor determines, according to the first packet paging message received by using the communications interface, that a terminal is an M2M terminal; and a transmitter sends a coverage-enhanced second packet paging message to the terminal. The present invention is used in a paging process.
