A light bulb apparatus includes a bulb shell, an antenna, a driver, a light source plate and a bulb cap. The light source plate has a first layer and a second layer. The LED module is disposed on the first layer. The second layer includes a metal portion. The metal portion carries heat generated by the LED module for heat dissipation. The antenna is disposed upon the first layer. A bulb cap is connected to an external power. The driver is electrically connected to the antenna for receiving a wireless signal. The driver converts the external power to a driving current supplied to the LED module.

Lighting based authentication of a mobile electronic device
A Light Emitting Diode (LED) based illumination device authenticates a mobile electronics device on a lighting communications network. The mobile electronic device may request a communications link on the lighting communications network and detect modulated illumination light emitted from the LED based illumination device. The modulated light may include an optical code. The mobile electronic device may determine the optical code from the modulated illumination light and communicate an indication of the optical code to the LED based illumination device. The LED based illumination device may determine if the indication of the optical code is correct and provide, in response, a communication link to the mobile electronics device on the lighting communications network.
LIGHT EMITTING DIODE CONTROL CIRCUIT WITH WIDE RANGE INPUT VOLTAGE
A light emitting diode (LED) control circuit includes an inductor current sense circuit with a high-side diode string, a low-side diode string, and a sense resistor in series with and between the high-side and low side diode strings. The LED control circuit receives an input voltage on an end that connects to the high-side diode string. An end of the low-side diode string is connected to a switch through an inductor. A sense voltage developed on the sense resistor by an inductor current is sensed by a controller integrated circuit (IC). A pin of the controller IC that receives the sense voltage can have a breakdown voltage specification that is lower than the input voltage.

System and method for voltage conversion to drive one or more light emitting diodes with at least a TRIAC dimmer. For example, the system includes: a phase detector configured to receive a first rectified voltage generated based at least in part on an AC input voltage processed by at least the TRIAC dimmer, the phase detector being further configured to generate a digital signal representing phase information associated with the first rectified voltage; a voltage generator configured to receive the digital signal and generate a DC voltage based at least in part on the digital signal; and a driver configured to receive the DC voltage and affect, based at least in part on the DC voltage, a current flowing through the one or more light emitting diodes; wherein the current changes with the phase information according to a predetermined function.
Ground leakage current power supply for microprocessor
A power supply, includes: a hot node coupled to a hot wire of an AC source, and a ground node coupled to an earth ground, where a neutral wire of the source is not present; a storage component, coupled to a return node and in series with a current limiter, where the current limiter enables the storage component to charge to a voltage while limiting leakage current to a prescribed value; a low voltage power supply including a linear voltage regulator, coupled to the storage component and to a return node that provides a reference voltage, where the low voltage power supply receives the voltage and generates an output voltage on an output node that is referenced to the reference voltage; and a microprocessor that employs the output voltage to wake from a low power mode to an active mode.
System and method for controlling operation of an LED-based light
For controlling operation of a light source, a method of associating a light source with an area for which the light source is positioned to provide lighting comprises: identifying, based on a determined physical position of a light source, one of a plurality of areas as the area for which the light source is positioned to provide lighting; identifying at least one desired lighting condition for the identified area; and controlling, using a processor, operation of the light source based on the identified at least one desired lighting condition for the identified area.
Deep dimming of an LED-based illumination device
An LED based illumination device is dimmed by controlling an average current supplied to the LED based illumination device. The currently supplied to the LED may be supplied by an LED driver that is in communication with a dimming control engine. The dimming control engine may receive an indication of a desired average current level. The dimming control engine controls the LED driver to periodically switch a current supplied to an LED of the LED based illumination device from a high state to a low state over a switching period, wherein both a duration of the switching period is adjusted and a ratio of a time in the high state to a time in the low state is adjusted as the average current supplied to the LED based illumination device transitions from a first average current level to the desired average current level.
