A display device includes a display panel including a first display area including first pixels, and a second display area including a pixel portion, in which second pixels are disposed, and a transmission portion through which light is transmitted. The pixel portion of the second display area includes a base member, a metal layer disposed on the base member to define the transmission portion, a first active layer disposed on the metal layer and including a first material, and a first gate layer disposed on the first active layer. A hole is defined through the metal layer to overlap at least a part of the first active layer in a thickness direction.

The present disclosure relates to a display panel and a repair method thereof. The display panel includes a plurality of pixel circuits in which an emission region, through which light from a light-emitting element is emitted, is defined, a power line configured to apply a pixel driving voltage to the pixel circuits, a reference voltage line to which a reference voltage lower than the pixel driving voltage is applied, and a branch line connected to the reference voltage line to apply the reference voltage to one or more of the pixel circuits. At least a portion of the branch line includes a partially metalized semiconductor layer.

Electronic Devices With Flexible Display Cover Layers

An electronic device may have a hinge that allows the device to be flexed about a bend axis. A display may span the bend axis. To facilitate bending about the bend axis without damage, the display may include a display cover layer with a flexible portion. The flexible portion of the display cover layer may be interposed between first and second rigid portions of the display cover layer. The display cover layer may also include a layer with self-healing properties. The layer of self-healing material may be formed across the entire display cover layer or may be formed only in the flexible region of the display cover layer. The display cover layer may include a layer of elastomer in the flexible region of the display cover layer for increased flexibility. Self-healing may be initiated or expedited by externally applied heat, light, electric current, or other type of external stimulus.

The display device includes a lower panel including a base layer, a display element layer, and an encapsulation layer, an upper panel disposed on the lower panel and including a light control layer and a color filter layer, and a filling layer filling a space between the lower panel and the upper panel. A distance between the display element layer and the light control layer in the first area is greater than a distance between the display element layer and the light control layer in the second area. Accordingly, defects caused by the foreign substance are prevented, and a display quality and a reliability of the display device are increased.
