In one embodiment, a heat extraction system may include a closed-loop fluid circulation piping channeled throughout at least one heat extraction well oriented throughout a waste mass. The piping is fluidly coupled to a heat exchanger. A first circulation fluid is circulated through the closed-loop circulation piping into various depths of the waste mass to transfer thermal energy between said mass and said heat exchanger. In one embodiment, the transfer of thermal energy between the waste mass and the heat exchanger is used as alternative energy method and to control at least one of shear strength, compressibility, and hydraulic conductivity of the waste mass.

An in-vehicle temperature adjustment system includes: a refrigeration circuit including an inter-medium heat exchanger and a vaporizer that vaporizes the cooling medium to achieve a refrigeration cycle by circulating a cooling medium; a thermal circuit including a heater core, the inter-medium heat exchanger, an engine thermal circuit, and a radiator to circulate the heating medium; and a controller that controls a distribution state of the heating medium. The thermal circuit includes: a first branch portion at which a coolant flowing out of the engine thermal circuit and the inter-medium heat exchanger is divided into coolants flowing into the heater core and into the radiator; a second branch portion at which a coolant flowing out of the heater core is divided into coolants flowing into the inter-medium heat exchanger and into the engine thermal circuit; a first adjustment valve and a second adjustment valve.

Refrigeration systems

A refrigeration system can include a main flow circuit configured to flow a refrigerant therethrough and a heat input disposed in the main flow circuit and configured to receive heat and transfer the heat to the refrigerant in the main flow circuit to output heated refrigerant flow. The system can include a passive pump disposed in the main flow circuit downstream of the heat input configured to receive the heated refrigerant flow from the heat input and to use the heated refrigerant flow to generate a vacuum at a pump port and a condenser disposed in the main flow circuit downstream of the passive pump for receiving flow from the passive pump. The condenser can be configured to receive heat from the heated refrigerant flow and reject heat to cool the heated refrigerant flow to output partially cooled refrigerant flow. An outlet of the condenser can be upstream of the heat input.

A transducing method comprising: using a working medium of a heat pump (I) to absorb heat from and condense an output pressure working medium gas of a pneumatic motor (J) into a pressure working medium liquid, which is delivered as an input pressure working medium of the pneumatic motor (J); compressing, by the heat pump (I), the working medium after heat absorption to raise the temperature thereof so as to deliver the heat to the input pressure working medium, to enable the same to be heated and vaporized into a pressure working medium gas for actuating the pneumatic motor (J) and then being outputted by the pneumatic motor (J) as the output pressure working medium gas; and delivering the working medium of the heat pump (1) of which the temperature is decreased after the heat thereof has been delivered, to reabsorb heat from the output pressure working medium gas.

Method to change fluid temperature using a thermally driven control unit

Systems and methods are provided for changing the temperature of an environment using a thermally driven system. At least one solute and a solvent are selected such that the mixture of each solute and the solvent produce a negative enthalpy change for heating and a positive enthalpy change for cooling. In some embodiments, a plurality of pumps move the solute and the solvent, and a mixture thereof, among the various components of the present invention. A liquid loop may be coupled with a mixing heat exchanger and an air handler to provide a warm or cool supply air. Further, a process for cooling or heating air using enthalpy change of a solution associated with the dissolution of a solute in a solvent at relatively constant atmospheric pressure, and separation of the solute from the solvent for re-use in the process is disclosed.
