NANOPARTICLES FOR TARGETED NON-SURGICAL SPAYING AND NEUTERING

Nanoparticles and formulations for non-surgical sterilization are disclosed herein. The nanoparticles for non-surgical sterilization contains a cage, such as a zeolitic imidazolate framework (“ZIF”), a surface modifying agent, a targeting ligand, and an active agent. The surface modifying agent is attached to the outer surface of the cage and the targeting ligand is exposed to the surrounding environment. The active agent is encapsulated in the cage. The targeting ligand binds to a reproductive hormone or a receptor of a reproductive hormone. The active agents can be a ribosome inactivating protein, an apoptosis inducer, a hormone, a receptor ligand, or a nucleic acid, or a combination thereof, that inactivates the ovaries or testes. Uses for the nanoparticles and formulations incorporating the nanoparticles for sterilizing a subject in need thereof are also disclosed.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPTIMIZING ENERGY AND WATER USED FOR COOLING LIVESTOCK

Systems and methods are provided for controlling heat stress and accumulations in livestock using the application of water sprays onto the animal in conjunction with fan induced airflow. The system has a controller with sensor inputs of the ambient environment including temperature, humidity, wind speed, and surrounding surface temperature sensors and fan and spray control outputs. To achieve savings in water and electricity, a transient, one-dimensional simultaneous heat and mass transfer model of evaporation within the wetted fur layer of a dairy cow is used to estimate drying time and heat rejection rate based on ambient conditions along with a control algorithm to predict the fan speed and sprinkler operation frequency needed to meet specified cooling load thresholds given the outdoor conditions. Estimated savings demonstrated that the model-based controller could reduce annual electricity and water consumption by 20% and 40%, respectively.

SYSTEM FOR COLLECTING, MONITORING AND ANALYSING ANIMAL BEHAVIOR

The present invention refers to a system of environmental data collection, monitoring and behavioral analysis of animals on pasture, in a georeferenced environment using agrometeorological sensors, with the objective of spreading precision farming. The data generated is collected over a wireless network and stored in a database. The system is capable of analyzing the data of the various sensors to generate information on the cattle's behavior, and can also correlate them with environmental characteristics and data of the management area.

EVAPORATIVE COOLING SYSTEM FOR AN ANIMAL BARN
20220361437 · 2022-11-17 ·

A structure for sheltering and cooling livestock may include a concrete floored barn having an improved evaporative cooling system. The cooling system may include a misting stack having air inlets, a mixing chamber, and three cooling zones wherein the cooling zones correspond to three different temperature ranges. Each of the cooling zones may include a plurality of nozzles which produce a mist. As air passes through the mixing chamber, the mist may evaporate and cool the air. The cooling system may further include a plurality of large exhaust fans located at an end of the barn distal from the misting stack. The fans may draw the cool air through the barn, over and around the livestock, and out of the barn.
