The power management system may also include a communication interface associated with the grid shifting controller. The grid shifting controller may be configured to provide control information to a processor of at least one grid shifting electrical fixture over the communication interface, the control information being configured to direct the at least one grid shifting electrical fixture on the use of power from the external power source and an energy storage device associated with the at least one grid shifting electrical fixture.
AN OPTIMIZED LOAD SHAPING SYSTEM, METHOD & APPARATUS FOR OPTIMIZING PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION OF ENERGY
A method, system and apparatus are provided for optimized load shaping for optimizing production and consumption of energy. Information signals indicative of a first load shape signal are obtained corresponding to a total load, a renewable energy load of one or more renewable energy sources and a non-renewable energy load of one or more non-renewable energy sources. The first load shape signal corresponding to renewable energy load is removed from a non-renewable energy load to obtain a resulting load shape signal. The resulting load shape is flattened signal by apportioning the resulting load shape signal across time intervals to obtain a flattened load shape signal. At least a portion of the first component corresponding to the renewable energy load is added to the flattened load shape signal to create an optimized load shape signal. The optimized load shape signal is provided to modulate electric loads of energy-consuming devices.
Protection system for limiting an impact of disruptions of an external electrical network on a local network
Protection system for limiting the impact of disruptions of an external urban or industrial electrical network on a local electrical network of a site which is connected to the external network and which includes at least one local electric power source, referred to as “local source” connected to the local network and capable of injecting the surplus electric power into the external network, with the protection system including a synchronous machine connected to the local network which is itself connected to the external network by way of a choke, referred to as “network choke.” The protection system includes at least a local choke which is associated with the local source and which is connected to the local network between this local source and the synchronous machine.
PROVIDING AUXILIARY POWER USING OFFSHORE WIND TURBINES
Embodiments herein describe operating wind turbines in an offshore park to provide auxiliary power to a local AC grid or to an onshore grid during a grid malfunction. In one embodiment, the offshore park is coupled via a HVDC link to an onshore grid. When the HVDC link is down, a substation in the park includes a backup generator for creating a weak grid for powering auxiliary systems in a pilot turbine. The wind turbines in the park can switch to an auxiliary control system help power the auxiliary systems in the substation and in other turbines. In another embodiment, the offshore park is AC coupled to an onshore grid using a transformer in the substation. The wind turbines can participate in a brown or black start following a grid fault by switching to operating using the auxiliary control system.
