METHOD FOR THE ENERGY-EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF SODIUM AND POTASSIUM ALCOHOLATES
A method can be used for producing alkali metal alcoholates in counter flow by reactive rectification. The alkali metal is selected from sodium and potassium. In a first part of the method, the alcohol is converted in counter flow with the respective alkali metal hydroxide. In a second part of the method, the mixture of alcohol and water obtained is separated in a rectification column, and the alcoholic vapour arising is condensed, as a result of which the temperature thereof increases. The energy dissipated during cooling of the condensed vapour is then used in the first part of the method. This permits an energy-efficient production of the alkali metal alcoholates concerned.
Integrated process for production of glycerol carbonate (4-hydroxymethyl-2-oxo-1, 3-dioxolane) and urea
Systems and methods for integrated glycerol carbonate and/or urea production. This disclosure pertains to development of a process for production of glycerol carbonate and/or urea from ammonia, carbon dioxide and glycerol. The process integrates glycerol carbonate production into a urea production process. The urea produced in the production facility may be used to produce glycerol carbonate by reacting urea with glycerol. The ammonia generated by glycerol carbonate production may be recycled back to urea production. Unreacted urea from the glycerol carbonate production may be separated and recycled to the urea product stream. The systems and methods can reduce the cost for urea production and increase product value of the excessive glycerol produced from other chemical plants.
Process for producing a synthesis gas
Process for manufacturing a hydrogen-containing synthesis gas from a natural gas feedstock, comprising the conversion of said natural gas into a raw product gas and purification of said product gas, the process having a heat input provided by combustion of a fuel; said process comprises a step of conversion of a carbonaceous feedstock, and at least a portion of said fuel is a gaseous fuel obtained by said step of conversion of said carbonaceous feedstock, and the Wobbe Index of said fuel is increased by a step of carbon dioxide removal or methanation.
System and method for liquid fuel production from carbonaceous materials using recycled conditioned syngas
A method of producing liquid fuel and/or chemicals from a carbonaceous material entails combusting a conditioned syngas in pulse combustion heat exchangers of a steam reformer to help convert carbonaceous material into first reactor product gas which includes carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and other gases. A portion of the first reactor product gas is transferred to a hydrogen reformer into which additional conditioned syngas is added and a reaction carried out to produce an improved syngas. The improved syngas is then subject to one or more gas clean-up steps to form a new conditioned syngas. A portion of the new conditioned syngas is recycled to be used as the conditioned syngas in the pulse combustion heat exchangers and in the hydrocarbon reformer. A system for carrying out the method include, a steam reformer, a hydrocarbon reformer, first and second gas-cleanup systems, a synthesis system and an upgrading system.
Integrated process and catalysts for manufacturing hydrogen iodide from hydrogen and iodine
The present invention provides a process for producing hydrogen iodide. The process includes providing a vapor-phase reactant stream comprising hydrogen and iodine and reacting the reactant stream in the presence of a catalyst to produce a product stream comprising hydrogen iodide. The catalyst includes at least one selected from the group of nickel, cobalt, iron, nickel oxide, cobalt oxide, and iron oxide. The catalyst is supported on a support.
WASTE PROCESSING SYSTEM
The invention relates to an apparatus for producing syngas, typically from municipal waste. In particular, a gasifier is used in combination with a plasma furnace. The system is configured so that non-airborne char generated in the gasifier is removed from the system prior to delivery to the plasma furnace. This enhances the energy efficiency of the system whilst still yielding excellent yields of syngas.
Conversion of light naphtha to enhanced value aromatics in an integrated reactor process
An integrated process for conversion of a hydrocarbon stream comprising at least 60% by weight C5-C6 normal paraffins and iso-paraffins to enhanced value aromatics. The process includes passing the hydrocarbon stream through the first reactor, the first reactor being an aromatization reactor with an aromatization catalyst disposed therein to generate an aromatization product stream. The process further includes passing the aromatization product stream through a separator configured to remove C1-C4 gases to generate an aromatic rich stream. The process finally includes passing the aromatic rich stream combined with a reformate effluent fraction from a catalytic reforming unit to an aromatic recovery complex to separate the aromatic rich stream into a benzene fraction, a toluene fraction, a para-xylene fraction, an aromatic bottoms fraction comprising C9+ aromatic hydrocarbons, and a non-aromatics fraction. An associated system for performing the process is also provided.
