Fish Passage System For Medium And High Head Dams
20230117154 · 2023-04-20 ·

The present invention is a fish passage system for use at dams. It may incorporate one or more reversible pump-turbines for controlling and generating power from downstream flow of water and fish and for pumping water and fish upstream. For low head embodiments the system may use water stored at above headwater elevation in lieu of a reversible pump turbine for moving fish and water from tailwater to headwater.

RECIRCULATING AQUACULTURE SYSTEM USING BIOFLOC FERMENTER AND AQUAPONICS

A recirculating aquaculture system using a biofloc fermenter and aquaponics may include a breeding water tank that breeds farmed fish, a drum filter that filters breeding water drained from the recirculating aquaculture system; an automatic filtration system in which the breeding water of the drum filter is moved and purified; a biofloc fermentation system that supplies and mixes oxygen to backwash water of the automatic filtration system; and a plant cultivation system that cultivates plant with the breeding water mixed with stable and high-concentration oxygen moved from the biofloc fermentation system.

ANTI-ALGAE SALINE AQUACULTURE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20170339853 · 2017-11-30 ·

A method of irrigating a saline aquaculture system to control pests is described herein. The method includes acquiring a second set of environmental condition data on a computing device using a sensor coupled to a platform, such that the platform is configured to grow a salt-tolerant plant therein; comparing the second set of environmental condition data to a first set of environmental condition data acquired at a previous time point; determining whether freshwater accumulation has increased or will increase at a future time point on a surface of the platform; when it is determined that the freshwater accumulation on the surface of the platform has increased or will increase relative to the previous time point, activating a saltwater distribution device coupled to the platform; and reducing an accumulation of one or more of: insects, caterpillars, fungi, and bacteria on the surface of the platform.

AUTOMATED, MODULAR, SELF-CONTAINED, AQUAPONICS GROWING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A shipping container that includes a greenhouse mounted above an aqueous tank or tanks. Aquaponics fruits and vegetables grow in greenhouse in vertical and horizontal grow systems, while fish are grown in the tanks. Water flows between all plants and fish with no soil. The system is run by a computer automation system which operates on data obtained by various sensors and control components that include automated control valves, fish feeders, temperature and water flow measurements. The container can be operated from an established grid or can run off-grid with solar or other renewable energy sources. Part of the water needed for the system can be collected from rainfall. All necessary components except for the water, fish and plant seedlings are delivered in the shipping container.

AUTONOMOUS WAVE-POWERED VESSELS AND FLEETS FOR MANAGING FISH STOCK
20170295759 · 2017-10-19 · ·

This invention provides a vessel system and methodology that can be used to promote growth of phytoplankton in the oceans. Unmanned self-controlled wave-powered vessels are equipped with storage units for dispensing a fertilizer, and with sensors to monitor ocean conditions and effects. Fleets of vessels move autonomously by on-board processing of GPS and directional information, piloting a path that is coordinated by a central processing unit. The vessels travel through a defined target area, creating a detailed survey of chemical and biological characteristics that affect grown. The data are processed in a computer model to identify precise locations and precise amounts of fertilizer that will produce the best results. Projected benefits of fertilizing plankton include sequestering CO.sub.2 from the atmosphere, and enhancing the marine food chain to improve the fish stock in and around the treated area.

AEROBIC, BIOREMEDIATION TREATMENT SYSTEM COMPRISING FLOATING INERT MEDIA IN AN AQUEOUS ENVIRONMENT

An aerobic treatment system includes a plurality of highly porous, high surface area, inert, synthetic, inorganic, or natural material particles, having a specific gravity of less than 1.0 that float on an enclosed aqueous environment whereby plants and/or microbes can be grown thereon and/or animals such as fish can be raised therein. The inert particles trap air bubbles and nutrients for the growth of diverse types of plants, animals, or microbial systems, which enable phyto treatment of an aqueous waterbody with the ability to limit the growth of unwanted plant and algae such as blue-green algae. The above aerobic bio treatment system contains desirably bioremediation media having one or more microorganisms that are able to withstand system shocks while minimizing energy usage associated with aeration. The system can generally be utilized in any aqueous environment such as waste water and/or polluted water in an enclosed area such as a container, tank, pond, lake, or the like.

A floatable frame structure has concatenated frame modules, each formed of columns arranged substantially vertically. Neighboring columns are interconnected by upper and lower tie bars and form module sections. The connections between the tie bars and columns have rotary joints arranged at upper and lower nodes on the columns. At least one horizontal rotation joint is arranged for each column in the connection to an associated tie bar, and at least one spherical rotary joint or elastic rotary joint is arranged for each tie bar. Each module section is provided with elastic tensile elements secured to diagonally opposite upper and lower nodes, nodes lying diagonally opposite each other in the same horizontal plane and in the same frame module being connected by elastic tensile elements.
