SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECOVERING NUTRIENTS FROM A HIGH NITROGENOUS LIQUID WASTE
Methods of recovering nutrients from a high nitrogenous liquid waste are disclosed. The methods include collecting the high nitrogenous liquid waste, introducing the high nitrogenous liquid waste and an oxidant into a reactor to produce oxy-anions of nitrogen, maintaining a predetermined pH to control concentration of the oxy-anions of nitrogen, and concentrating the liquid to produce a concentrated product and a dilute water. Systems for recovering nutrients from a high nitrogenous waste are also disclosed. The systems include a solids-liquid separator, a reactor having an inlet fluidly connected to the solids-liquid separator and an inlet fluidly connected to a source of an oxidant, a pH control subsystem, and a dissolved solids concentrator.
MULTI-FUNCTIONAL HYBRID MATERIAL BASED ON SEPIOLITE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RECOVERY AND BIO-REMEDIATION
A multifunctional hybrid material based on sepiolite for environmental recovery and bio-remediation is described. In particular, the invention describes the design and development of suitably functionalized hybrid nanomaterials starting from sepiolite and the subsequent study of the absorbent and degrading properties in relation to aromatic hydrocarbons, by activating hydrocarbon-clastic bacteria. These nanomaterials have been prepared in order to remove hydrocarbon pollutants (e.g. oil) in natural matrices (marine environment), with potential applications in the field of environmental remediation.
Automatic Measurement System for Sludge Settling Velocity
An automatic measurement system for Sludge settling Velocity comprises a sampling and shooting module, a data service module, data processing module, and a measurement and analysis module. The sampling and shooting module is configured to collect samples and to obtain a test images of samples. The data processing module is configured to collect and store process data. The measurement and analysis module is configured to obtain the sedimentation ratios of samples according to test images. The sludge activity is analyzed according to the sedimentation ratios. When the sludge activity is abnormal, the process data are obtained from data processing module, and the process analysis data are obtained according to the data and the sludge activity analysis results. The automatic measurement system can avoid errors caused by manual measurement and improve accuracy and efficiency of detection and can avoid the problems of untimely detection.
CONSTRUCTED WETLAND SYSTEM ENHANCED BY IMMOBILIZED LACCASE
A constructed wetland system enhanced by immobilized laccase, it includes wetland plants, a matrix layer and a water distribution system, the wetland plants growing on the matrix layers, the matrix layer including a laccase catalyst and gravel, the laccase catalyst and gravel are distributed at intervals in a modular manner in a ratio of 1:5, the water distribution system is arranged on both sides of the matrix layer. The laccase catalyst is prepared by using a co-immobilization technology. The system improves the removal effect of hard-to-degrade organic matter in wastewater, and solves the problems of toxicity and stress of the hard-to-degrade organic matter existing in the prior art and the problems of matrix adsorption saturation.
REGENERATIVE MEDIA FILTER AIR SCOURING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A water filtration system is also disclosed. The water filtration system includes a regenerative media filter vessel, a filtrate line, a feed line, a recirculation line, a gas line, and at least one pump. A method of filtering water in a system comprising a regenerative media filter is disclosed. The method includes operating the system in a filtration mode, operating the system in a cleaning mode responsive to a differential pressure measurement across the regenerative media filter, operating the system in an aeration mode, operating the system in a pre-filtration mode after operating the system in the cleaning mode, operating the system in a drain mode, and operating the system in the filtration mode following the drain mode. A controller and non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-readable signals stored thereon that define instructions that, as a result of being executed by the controller, instruct the controller to perform a method of operating a water filtration system are disclosed.
MICROBE-BASED SYSTEMS, COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS THEREOF
The present disclosure describes a microorganism support structure, including a gas-permeable layer comprising two opposing surfaces; a microorganism adhesive coats at least one surface of the gas-permeable layer; and a microorganism disposed on the microorganism adhesive-coated surface of the layer. The microorganism adhesive enhances the adhesion of the microorganism on the layer compared to a gas-permeable layer that does not have the microorganism adhesive.
CONTROL METHOD BASED ON ADAPTIVE NEURAL NETWORK MODEL FOR DISSOLVED OXYGEN OF AERATION SYSTEM
A control method based on an adaptive neural network model for dissolved oxygen of an aeration system includes: obtaining related water quality monitoring data of a sewage treatment plant, and performing data preprocessing on the related water quality monitoring data; performing principal component analysis on the preprocessed related water quality monitoring data and a dissolved oxygen concentration of the aeration system through a principal component analysis method, and determining a water quality parameter with a highest rate of contribution to a principal component; taking the water quality parameter with the highest rate of contribution to the principal component, and predicting a dissolved oxygen concentration of the aeration system; and optimizing a dissolved oxygen predictive value obtained by means of the adaptive neural network model to obtain an optimal regulation value, and performing online regulation on a fuzzy control system of the adaptive neural network model.
Simultaneous nitrification/denitrification (SNDN) in sequencing batch reactor applications
A method of operating a sequencing batch reactor process includes introducing wastewater to be treated into the sequencing batch reactor and subjecting the wastewater to treatment in the sequencing batch reactor in an aerated anoxic mode in which a quantity of oxygen is supplied at a level insufficient to meet a biological oxygen demand of the wastewater, but sufficient to cause simultaneous nitrification and denitrification reactions to occur in the wastewater.
Membrane support made with preformed sheets
A planar membrane cartridge includes a support and a semi-permeable membrane layer. The support includes a first layer attached to a second layer and defining a front face and a back face of the support. At least one of the first layer and the second layer form a first embossment and a second embossment. Respective back faces of the first layer and the second layer are attached to each other along edges of the first embossment and of the second embossment, such that the first embossment defines a fluid compartment between the first layer and the second layer and the second embossment defines an internal channel between the first layer and the second layer which is isolated from the fluid compartment. An area of the first layer corresponding to the first embossment is covered by the semi-permeable membrane layer.
USING DAPHNIA FOR BIOREMEDIATION
There is disclosed a method of improving water quality, the method comprising adding a pool of isolated Daphnia to a body of water such that the pool of isolated Daphnia is exposed to one or more contaminants which may be in the water. The pool of isolated Daphnia comprise Daphnia which have been resurrected from dormant Daphnia. The pool of isolated Daphnia are allowed to filter from the body of water at least a portion of said one or more contaminants to reduce the level of the one or more contaminants in the body of water. After a period of time, at least a portion of the Daphnia containing said one or more contaminants are removed from the body of water, thereby improving the water quality of the body of water.
