Electrical connector having expandable backshell
A backshell includes upper and lower shells defining a cavity. The upper shell includes a top wall and a side wall and the lower shell includes a bottom wall and a side wall. An actuator is coupled to the shells to change the relative positions of the shells between an open position and a closed position. A top of the lower shell engages a bottom of the upper shell in the closed position. The actuator is operable to move at least one of the upper shell and the lower shell such that the top of the lower shell is spaced-apart from the bottom of the upper shell in the open position, thereby increasing a size of the cavity to allow insertion and removal of the electrical connector into or out of the cavity in the open position.
Connector cover
A connector cover (1) for protecting a wire (80) extending rearward from a connector (100) includes a cover body (10) mountable to extend rearwardly of the connector (100) and fixed to the connector (100), a rear cover (50) disposed behind the cover body (10), a coupling (70) coupling the rear cover (50) and the cover body (10), and extending shape holding portions (60) capable of holding the rear cover (50) in a rearward extending state to extend rearwardly of the connector (100). The rear cover (50) transitions to a rearward extension released state where the rearward extending state is released by being laterally pushed by the wire (80).

Connector housing assembly with a dress cover having finger feature and ribs
A connector housing assembly is configured to withstand a cantilevered force applied by wires onto the dress cover and prevent contact between the dress cover sidewalls and the wire or a terminal to reduce disengagement of the connector housing and dress cover. The connector housing includes ridges integrated on the outer surface of the sidewalls of the connector housing. The dress cover includes a finger feature integrated on the sidewalls of the dress cover that engages the ridges of the connector housing to produce a cantilever force that counter acts the force exerted on the dress cover from the of wires. The dress cover further includes stabilizing ribs connected to the interior surfaces of the sidewalls and top surfaces. The stabilizing ribs prevent movement of the assembly causing the terminal or wire from rattling resulting in wear or damage to the wire or terminal.
Terminal barrier assemblies for electrical switching apparatus and methods of assembly thereof
A terminal barrier assembly for one or more terminals of an electrical switching apparatus, such as an electrical circuit breaker or switch. The terminal barrier includes a first barrier portion including a first opening portion, and a second barrier portion including a second opening portion. The first opening portion and second opening portion interface with one another to form a shielding aperture configured for shielding around one or more line wires extending from the one or more terminals. According to another aspect, an electrical switching apparatus including the terminal barrier assembly and methods of assembly of an electrical switching apparatus are provided, as are other aspects.
Electrical connector assembly having a multi-piece backshell
A backshell includes an upper shell, a lower shell and a fastener coupled to the upper shell and coupled to the lower shell to hold the upper shell and the lower shell together and resist separation of the upper shell from the lower shell. The upper shell defines a portion of a cavity of the backshell and includes a top wall and an upper shell side wall extending from the top wall to a bottom of the upper shell. The lower shell defines another portion of the cavity of the backshell. The lower shell includes a bottom wall and a lower shell side wall extending from the bottom wall to a top of the lower shell. The top of the lower shell generally mates with the bottom of the upper shell at a mating plane. The fastener extends along a longitudinal axis generally parallel to the mating plane.
