Valve

A valve 10, for relieving ground water pressure on a swimming pool for containing pool water. A body 30 defines a flow path. An element 20 is mounted to be moved in a direction from a position, in which at least one feature 22 of the element co-operates with at least one feature 33 of the body to form a sealing arrangement to block the flow path to retain the pool water, to a position in which the flow path is open to allow ground water into the swimming pool. The sealing arrangement defines an effective area over which the ground water pressure acts to drive the element in the direction, and an effective area over which pool water pressure acts to drive the element opposite the direction. The co-operable features are configured such that a ratio, of the effective area over which the ground water pressure acts to the effective area over which pool water pressure acts, has a value of at least 0.9.

Aircraft low clearance fluid check valve
09802708 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A fluid check valve for use in an aircraft fluid handling system having a confined surrounding structure where a first distance is defined between a fluid duct and the surrounding structure where the design of the fluid check valve is configured to facilitate removal of a first flange and the flow duct by moving the first flange and flow duct a second distance that is less than the first distance. The check valve is offset into the upstream side of a second flange to provide the reduction in the distance that the first flange has to be displaced to remove the first flange and flow duct from the check valve. A first alternate configuration of the fluid check valve utilizes rotational stops attached to the downstream surface of the flow flaps and in a second alternate embodiment configuration, rotational stops extend upstream from the flow flaps.

Method and system for pre-programmed self-power microfluidic circuits

A major challenge for the general use of “lab-on-a-chip” (LOAC) systems and point-of-care (POC) devices has been the generally complex and need for sophisticated peripheral equipment, such that it is more difficult than anticipated to implement low cost, robust and portable LOAC/POC solutions. It would be beneficial for chemical, medical, healthcare, and environmental applications to provide designs for inexpensive LOAC/POC solutions compatible with miniaturization and mass production, and are potentially portable, using compact possibly hand-held instruments, using reusable or disposable detectors. Embodiments of the invention address improved circuit elements for self-powered self-regulating microfluidic circuits including programmable retention valves, programmable trigger valves, enhanced capillary pumps, and flow resonators. Additionally embodiments of the invention allow for the flow direction within a microfluidic circuit to be reversed as well as for retention of reagents prior to sale or deployment of the microfluidic circuit for eased user use.

Check valve assembly

A valve assembly for a compressor includes a flow passage defining an inlet, an outlet, and a valve seat located proximate the inlet. The valve assembly also has a valve member that includes a head portion engageable with the valve seat. The head portion has a front face, a rear face located closer to the outlet than the front face, and a side face extending between the front and rear faces. The head portion further has a first convex curvature formed between the front face and the side face. The valve member also includes a collar portion extending toward the outlet from the rear face of the head portion.

Valve for ventilation of a tank

A tank ventilation valve has a housing (21), a closing member (4), a sealing seat (5) and a first space (17). A second space (18) is connected to the first space (17) via a control opening (19) that surrounds the sealing seat (5). A spring (6) pretensions the closing member (4) against the sealing seat (5) and closes the control opening (19). The closing member (4) opens as a function of a pressure difference between the first and second spaces (17, 18). The opened closing member (4) opens the control opening (19) so that the first space (17) is connected to a first line (2) connects to fresh air. The second space (18) is connected to a second line (3) that is attachable to a filter. Structure is provided to exert a further negative pressure on the closing member (4) to move the closing member (4) into the open position.

Check valve for a pipe section
09739391 · 2017-08-22 · ·

A check valve between two pipe segments including a valve body and a valve housing. The valve body includes a valve opening through one face with a valve seat therearound, and a wall extending between the faces defining a part of the circumference of the fluid line between the pipe segment ends with a radial opening in the other part of the fluid line circumference having no wall. The valve housing is removably securable over the radial opening whereby the valve body wall and the valve housing together define a closed circumference of the fluid line between the pipe segments. A valve flapper is secured to the valve housing and pivotally biased relative to the valve housing toward closing against the valve seat, whereby the valve flapper is removable through the valve body radial opening when the valve housing is removed from the valve body.
