Servovalve assembly

A servovalve includes a fluid transfer valve assembly comprising a supply port and a control port; a moveable valve spool arranged to regulate flow of fluid from the supply port to the control port in response to a control signal; and a drive assembly configured to axially move the valve spool relative to the fluid transfer assembly in response to the control signal to regulate the fluid flow. The drive assembly comprises a steerable jet pipe moveable by an amount determined by the control signal to cause corresponding movement of the valve spool and the jet pipe terminates at one end in a nozzle and at the other end being in fluid flow engagement with a fluid supply pipe. Movement of the valve spool is caused by fluid flowing from the nozzle to engage with the valve spool.

A pressure regulation servo-valve comprising a body having a utilization port, a feed port, and a return port, a spool mounted as a sliding fit in the body, the spool co-operating with the body to define a pilot chamber connected to the utilization port. The spool and the body together further define a priming chamber connected to the feed port via a second constriction and connected to the nozzle via a third constriction, and in which there exists a priming pressure acting on the spool in the first direction.

The pilot-operated valve is subjected to a hydraulic opening force of pilot fluid that is present in the bore of the cage. A spring is disposed within the internal cavity of the valve body and arranged to subject the pilot-operated valve to a closing spring force.

A fluid controller includes a valve housing having an inlet port, a return port, first and second control ports and a load sense port. The fluid controller further includes a fluid meter in selective fluid communication with the valve housing and a valve assembly adapted to provide selective fluid communication between the valve housing and the fluid meter. The valve housing includes a main flow path and a load sense flow path. The main flow path is adapted to provide selective fluid communication between the inlet port and the first control port. Fluid in the main flow path passes through the fluid meter. The load sense path is adapted to provide selective fluid communication between the load sense port and the main flow path. The load sense flow path includes a variable load sense orifice that substantially closes prior to a maximum rotational displacement of the valve assembly.
